The Athenaeum Foundation has played a key role in preserving and reinvigorating the most elaborate architectural building associated with the German American community of Indianapolis. A gem of Mass Avenue, the Athenaeum encompasses its own "four Cs," that define its downtown allure - Conversation, Culture, Celebration, and Community - and is known to host some of the best events in its cultural corridor from GermanFest with live Wiener Dog Races, the Strong Man Competition to classical concerts showcased in the Basile Theatre. Built in 1894 and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2017, the Athenaeum serves as a community center to many long-standing clubs and organizations that share the core values of a "sound mind in a sound body."  The YMCA, Indiana German Heritage Society, Young Actors Theatre, and the Rathskeller, Indy's oldest restaurant, are among the many businesses and nonprofits that share space at the Athenaeum.
The Athenaeum Foundation is searching for an individual to serve as President who will continue to promote and preserve its rich and storied background while leveraging the expanding energy of the Mass Ave corridor.
