The Youth Services Manager will lead the Youth Services Team in providing customer service to children and families and support the library experience with the use of materials, facilities and equipment.  Must be passionate about working with the public and support HEPL's goal to be a dynamic contributor to the Fishers/Noblesville community. The successful candidate will embrace the idea of change and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Oversees in-person, age-appropriate customer service to youth and caregivers, implementation and review of public policies; ensure consistency of experience and message at every point of contact.
• Ensure proper staffing and appropriate training for patron-facing staff at all youth-focused public service points system-wide.
• In consultation with the Deputy Directors, responsible for overseeing and guiding the development and engagement of professional youth services staff.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervises Youth Services Assistant Manager and Youth Services Librarians.
• Oversees development of departmental and system-wide goals and policies, as well as consistent customer service standards and general library procedures.
• Responsible for appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and solving problems.
Education and/or Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:
• MLS degree from ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum of three years of supervisory/management experience is required, preferably working with youth.
• Previous relevant experience and customer service experience is preferred.
• Indiana Certification LC2 required.

• Image – Portrays a positive image of library; is a strong public ambassador and promotes library programs and services during customer interactions.
Technical – Proficiency in using computers and related software; experience with library management system software, including cataloging systems and public interface systems.
• Leadership/Development – Coordinates work and delegates appropriately to best accomplish department goals; provides clear standards for employee achievement; fosters individual and collective creativity within the work group; provides immediate and effective feedback to employees concerning behavior and performance.
