Manages and/or supports Indiana Youth Institute's research and data products including the Indiana KIDS COUNT Data Book, Issue Briefs, external data requests, county-level data products and the annual State of the Child campaign.
 
We are looking for the next Data and Research Program Manager who:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Data Analysis and Research
• Conducts research in the field of child and youth development.
• Designs data visualizations, conducts statistical analyses and drafts reports.
• Supports internal and external Data Requests.
• Works on custom data projects when needed.
 
Publications
• Writes and manages the Indiana KIDS COUNT Data Book.
• Produces print and online interactive County Snapshots.
• Develops and writes Issue Briefs and Data Briefs.
 
Engagement
• Facilitates the annual statewide State of the Child campaign presentations.
• Manages the KIDS COUNT Advisory Council.
• Participates and speaks at various events including conferences and committees.
• Develops strong relationships with data providers, experts and stakeholders.
 
Performs other duties as assigned by the VP Impact and Data Solutions or President & CEO.
 
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's Degree required, including coursework in research and statistics. Master's preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in fields such as youth development, education, child welfare, family services, health, and/or juvenile justice.
• Experience using Global Information Systems (GIS) and data visualization software such as Tableau preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate research to practice in writing.
• Knowledge of data research methods and experience extracting data from a large, diverse set of state, national, and independent databases.
• Must possess a knowledge of statistics and a high capacity for detail and precision with numbers.
• Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel skills) and Internet research knowledge necessary.
 
INDEPENDENT ACTION AND JUDGEMENT:
• Guidance and direction is provided by the Institute's mission and policies, the Vice President Impact and Data Solutions and the President & CEO.
• Position requires self-discipline and a high level of independent judgment and decision making.
 
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
• Position interacts with IYI staff, data providers and IYI clients.
• Works collaboratively daily with the Impact and Data Solutions Division.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• The majority of work for this position is performed in a standard office environment. 
• Generally, there is minimal exposure to hazard or a high degree of discomfort. 
• Some physical activity required; some lifting and moving of boxes; some standing for extended periods at annual conference.
• Some statewide travel is required.
