This position serves as Clinical Case Manager for the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP), working with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, other staff, and the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program Committee, in carrying out their duties under Rule 31. This program offers help to judges, attorneys, and law students who are seeking assistance for substance use, mental and/or physical health, career change/retirement, practice management, and other issues that can interfere with the practice of law.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Assists JLAP with the responsible administration of all aspects of the peer assistance and other services provided to the judges, lawyers, bar applicants, and law students of Indiana. Primarily responsible for providing clinical insight and case management services to JLAP participants, including triage, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, education, referrals, supportive counseling, review of clinical treatment records, documentation, and follow up.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•  Following clients on monitoring agreements and preparing reports for the appropriate entity as specified in the monitoring agreements.  
•  Assisting in answering calls for help by providing crisis counseling and referrals for law students, judges, and attorneys as well as colleagues, friends, and family members concerned about attorneys in need of assistance. 
•  Sharing in the responsibility for evening and weekend coverage of the office by periodically participating in the coverage through whatever system JLAP currently has in place.    
•  Facilitating JLAP support groups as needed. 
•  Planning and facilitating clinical or executive interventions as necessary.
•  Assisting in recruiting, training, and maintaining current relationships with a statewide network of JLAP volunteers.
•  Assisting in reporting to the JLAP Committee as requested by the Executive Director. 
•  Ensuring entry of accurate data in the JLAP database and the assisting in development of outcome measures.
•  Assisting in increasing the legal community and public awareness JLAP by making presentations, conducting seminars and trainings, and by writing articles and other pieces for publication. 
•  Interacting with staff from other Indiana Supreme Court Agencies to further JLAP's interests.
•  Other duties as assigned
Master's Degree in a clinical field with exceptional experience in mental health and substance use issues. Clinical and/or addictions licensure required. Certified interventionist or significant experience planning and conducting interventions preferred. JLAP Clinical Case Manager must have experience with a wide variety of mental health disorders including substance abuse disorders. The JLAP Clinical Case Manager must have the ability to work with a diverse range of people including people who are agitated and in crisis.
•  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, intermediate to advanced level
•  Working knowledge, or ability and willingness to learn SharePoint, Salesforce, DocuSign, and new software as implemented
•  Ability and flexibility to vary schedule from time to time to accommodate client schedules or JLAP events  
•  Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
•  Ability to work independently and with others
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
•  Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and possess excellent time management skills
•  Ability to work productively without direct supervision and to manage time effectively
•  Ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with the needs, problems, and/or concerns of other department staff, outside agency personnel, and/or the public
•  Proven ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials in a professional manner
•  Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills
•  Must be comfortable working in a close-knit, team environment, and being cross trained
•  must have the ability to travel to meet with clients and to attend bar association meetings, Judicial Conference meetings, professional association meetings, and other JLAP programs or activities. 
Must exercise absolute confidentiality; avoid conflicts of interest and the appearance of conflict of interest, abide by the Employee Handbook and Judicial Code of Conduct.  Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
