Organization Overview:
16 Tech Community Corporation, Inc. ("16 Tech") is the organizer and manager of a 60-acre advanced technologies innovation district in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. 16 Tech is designed to create a dynamic urban community for scientific research, technology innovation, entrepreneurial activity, and talent attraction, with a focus on startups and corporations in the bioscience, tech and advanced engineering sectors. It will serve both as a signature development project for the new, metropolitan-based 21st century economy of advanced industries and university partners as well as an accelerator for Indiana's innovation community, catapulting the region to global recognition for cross-sector collaboration and innovation.
 
Position Duties:
The Director of Community Initiatives will lead 16 Tech's efforts to engage and invest in the communities surrounding 16 Tech on the Near Northwest and Near West side of Indianapolis, including Riverside, King Commons, Hawthorne, Haughville, Stringtown, We Care, Indiana Avenue, and surrounding neighborhoods. Reporting to the CEO, this role will develop and oversee the strategy and execution of initiatives and partnerships to create access and opportunity for the neighbors of 16 Tech. In addition, this role will play a key part in fostering a community committed to diversity and inclusivity among the employers and tenants of 16 Tech. Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience; non-profit management, neighborhood and/or community organization, or workforce development experience preferred.
• Positive, outgoing individual who connects with people in a real way and is passionate about community development. Deep listener.
• Ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of socio-economic, racial, ethnic, religious and political backgrounds, beliefs, and practices.
• Understanding of the Indianapolis community including the Near West and Near Northwest as well as community stakeholders, city agencies and programs.
• Ability to identify, work with, and develop meaningful partnerships with other organizations and external agencies in support of 16 Tech workforce and community goals.
• Event planning skills and experience; experience working with and coordinating a board of advisors and/or multiple stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; external relations, corporate relations, and media savvy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; organizational skills to determine and balance priorities.
• Capacity to work independently and thrive in a high-energy, dynamic environment.
• Ability and willingness to attend a variety of meetings; regular evening and weekend hours as required.
