Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. Our more than 135,000 active nurse members across the globe are recognized leaders and scholars who demonstrate global nursing excellence. Sigma currently has an opening onsite at our Indianapolis, IN headquarters for an Events Manager. This position oversees the planning, implantation, and evaluation of events sponsored by Sigma and its subsidiaries, clients, and staff.  The ideal candidate must have event management experience, possess the ability to multi‐task, and be responsive to the needs of Sigma members.
 
Responsibilities:
• Execute meeting and event planning, including requests for proposals, registration, site selection and set-up, room block management, technology requirements, production and schedules, food and beverage and BEO approval, as well as pre-, on-site and post- event logistics and billing
• Manage meeting and event team
• Develop budgets, monitor expenses and other financials for all areas of responsibility; work in collaboration with other departments on expense budgets to meet Sigma goals and objectives 
• Make recommendations based on current industry trends and future expectations, and set the strategic goals for Sigma events
• Oversee database and registration process, including on‐site registrations, to assure accurate registration data, name badges (and ribbons), fee collection, counts for specific events, etc.
• Work with appropriate individuals to develop and monitor timelines and deadlines related to all aspects of events, ensuring the information is communicated with staff, volunteers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
• Work with Sigma staff and members to develop comprehensive event programs that include speakers, topics, and timing; communicate with speakers regarding their commitment and needs related to attending the event (A/V, travel, reimbursement, handouts, bios, etc.)  
• Create and monitor timelines/, work with marketing and communications staff to develop event collateral materials and promotional schedules for events to ensure adequate and proper promotion
• Develop onsite program content appropriate for specific events
• Review financial information for accuracy, such as invoices for services and materials; the hotel invoice, subcontractor invoices, etc. and assist in the preparation of the final financial report for the client
• Collaborate with appropriate staff to evaluate all events, attendees and non‐attendees, as appropriate; gather and disseminate results to ensure continual improvement and quality customer service
 
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum 5-7 years educational meeting and logistics planning experience in a multi-departmental, non-profit environment in a management role
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, ability to network, and demonstrated high level of confidence and poise with a strong member service orientation
• Demonstrated personal integrity in negotiations with vendors and contractors
• Ability to travel internationally to support events, projects, and business requirements as required
• Knowledge of continuing professional education programs, including familiarity with CE, rules and regulations compliance, preferred
• Strong technical background and experience with company/organization wide databases, web and website applications and preferred meetings industry technology software tools (meeting planning logistics, Web/Smartphone, registration/badge, evaluation/surveys tools, and CE software applications)
• Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and podium skills, writing, and proofreading skills
