Duties and responsibilities:
The Program Manager will:
1. Report to the President & CEO; work with the board and staff to advance the Foundation's philanthropic goals.
2. Adhere to the highest ethical standards and maintain professional discretion.
3. Comply with and contribute to the refinement of the Foundation's operational processes and governing policies.
   a. Monitor compliance with legal and Foundation policy requirements
   b. Manage and maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records pertaining to the Foundation's business, including financial and grantmaking files.
4. Prepare prompt, accurate reports on grant activity to facilitate the grants review process utilizing the Foundation's grantmaking database.
5. Process grant applications and prepare proposal packages for grants review committees and directors.
6. Adhere to the Foundation's grantmaking, knowledge management and communications process:
   a. Consult with an assigned portfolio of grantees, read their files, confer with other Foundation staff as needed to provide and document guidance;
   b. Review proposals and make funding recommendations for assigned portfolio;
   c. Read and acknowledge grantee self‐evaluation reports for assigned portfolio.
7. Coordinate with financial consultants (bookkeeping, accounting, and auditors) as needed or as directed by President & CEO
8. Some travel might be required for grantee site visits around Indiana; as well as national and/or international conferences and trainings.
9. Assist with special event fundraising activities to support the organizations mission.
10. Perform other tasks as needed within a lean, multi‐tasking staff‐team structure.
 
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will have experience working with nonprofit organizations and must have demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, written & oral communications skills, computer and database management experience, a desire to serve and learn, an ability to learn quickly, and to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team. This position is responsible for the implementation of the Foundation's operational processes and governing policies, as well as a select portfolio of grantees and/or grantmaking programming. The position also requires awareness of the dynamics of effective philanthropy and adaptability to serve an ever‐evolving organization. Baccalaureate degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred.
