Community Impact Team
 
United Way of Central Indiana recognizes that the key to success is a strong and cohesive team that works through shared values to achieve our mission. The Strategic Initiatives Director is responsible for leadership around our financial stability and education work within the Community Impact team. This includes leading a team to accomplish organizational goals around kindergarten readiness, third grade reading, and family financial stability among others.
 
Position Duties & Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.  They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. 
• Delegate and assign Education projects and initiatives to the appropriate Community Impact Team members for day to day execution.
    o Provide leadership direction and supervision for the Read UP program (third grade tutoring program)
    o Provide leadership direction and supervision of UWCI's Indy Pre K scholarship program
    o Ensure the successful implementation of the Plan for Quality Child Care and ensuring benchmarks and goals are achieved.
    o Provide leadership direction and supervision of other UWCI school-based initiatives.
    o Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key school and community leaders.
• Delegate and assign Financial Stability projects and initiatives to the appropriate Community Impact Team members for day to day execution.
    o Plan, budget and implement key tasks of the Financial Stability strategies, which includes targeted fund raising, data and performance management, and training/maintaining relationships with partner agencies and funders.
    o Work with Efforts To Outcomes (ETO) Technical staff to analyze data and impact of CWF; know aspects of ETO and how it supports CWF and other UWCI programs.
    o Manage and monitor the strategic allocation grant agreements between UWCI and CWF sites to ensure sites are implementing the CWF model as expected, spending funds appropriately and submitting required reports.
• Serve as a key leader on the Community Impact team, which is responsible for the development and implementation of the department work plan that ties to overall organizational and community goals.
• Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, business administration, public administration or related area with a focus on nonprofit management and/or governance required. Three to five years of equivalent experience also required. Graduate degree preferred. Work experience may substitute for education requirements on a case by case basis.
 
Must have proven experience with program development and implementation. The ability to effectively budget and allocate resources is essential. Familiarity with the history and dynamics of the human services network in Indianapolis is also essential.
Must also be proficient in oral and written communications with excellent public relations skills.  Must have the ability to lead, participate and facilitate group planning sessions.  Effective team-building skills and the ability to participate in group planning and project implementation is critical to the success of this position.
