Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Manager of Advancement Communications leads the university's fundraising communications strategies, programs, and services. The Manager of Advancement Communications develops, executes, and supports comprehensive communications plans and projects that increase engagement and achieve advancement objectives with key constituent groups, including alumni, donors, and prospective donors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop a communications plan for the university's Forging Leaders campaign.
• Manage and implement concurrent, interdependent short-, medium-, and long-term communications projects that support and achieve fundraising goals and priorities. Implement and support an integrated visual identity system, editorial schedule, and production calendar for all advancement communications activities.
• Produce, edit, and approve traditional and digital communications and marketing products that support advancement activities and programs and engage identified target audiences and/or individual donors.
• Provide communications support for key fundraising events, including the annual gala and Clayton Family Circle of Honor Dinner.
• Produce the annual President's Report.
• Develop case statements and talking points for use by gift officers.
• Develop, update, and manage content for advancement and alumni webpages.
• Partner with team members in the Office of Marketing Communications to ensure consistency and accuracy in representing Marian University's brand.
• Serve as a liaison to the Manager of Social Media in representing advancement and alumni activity on social media.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
• Exceptional writing skills.
• Demonstrated aptitude for storytelling and content development.
• Strong foundation in communications campaign strategies, content marketing, brand strategy, social media, blogging, multimedia, and performance measurement.
• Strong strategic thinking and creative skills.
• Ability to work at management level, but willingness and acumen to perform hands-on tasks.
• Understanding of the administrative functions, academic programs, and requirements of a university.
• Strong organizational skills and ability.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends in order to meet project deadlines.
• Must be able to work with all required technologies and tools.
• Previous experience with communications for fundraising initiatives is preferred.
