The Chief Marketing Officer is the chief architect of our brand voice and all campaigns, bringing expertise, innovation and coherence to the design of an integrated overarching marketing strategy to which all of our content, social media & digital, partnerships and communications align.  (remote possible)
 
The American Camp Association is a community of camp professionals who, for over 100 years have joined together to share our knowledge and experience and to ensure the quality of camp programs.  Because of our diverse 12,000 plus membership and our exceptional programs, children and adults have the opportunity to learn powerful lessons in community, character-building, skill development, and healthy living – lessons that can be learned nowhere else.    Provide strategic vision and leadership of five key areas: content, digital, public relations, communications, and campaign strategy.
 
Duties:
• Cultivate, manage, and leverage relationships with key influencers, partners, and agencies.
• Develop strategic messaging that inspires accredited camps, members, volunteers, and other key stakeholders to strive for the strongest collective impact on all camp participants.
• Develop and implement targeted communications strategies for internal audiences, affiliates, partners, volunteers, camp professionals, and the general public.
• Support business development and business innovation efforts through integrated brand partnerships, licensing, and development opportunities throughout the business cycle. This will require coordinated communications, a comprehensive understanding of product development lifecycles, strong event management, and development-focused marketing strategies.
• Grow philanthropic efforts through development of segmented marketing strategies, identifying underleveraged donor profiles and customizing individual solutions for each.
• Ensure high quality and value from external agencies by clearly defining the scope of work, managing RFP processes, holding to production schedules, monitoring budgets, and establishing a clear standard of excellence.
• Establish and lead strategic media and advertising partnerships.
• Review and oversee all materials produced for external and internal stakeholders, establishing a clear tone and voice for the organization and ensuring a standard of excellence.
• Work with the CEO, COO, primary team leaders, and other appropriate staff to create and adhere to realistic budgets and forecasts in a manner that helps achieve the Association's objectives. Track income and expenses against budget frequently enough to make adjustments at the optimum time, communicating budget concerns to COO and CFO in a timely manner.
• Design, build, and effectively lead a team that executes toward strategic priorities and goals.
• Maintain a knowledge base of current marketing skills; keep up with issues, trends, and developments of the camp industry to drive priorities for revenue growth.
• Develop targeted advertising plans for all demographics; monitor and manage social/digital media and websites; manage content providing search engine optimization.
• Work with senior staff, other staff, and volunteers to develop and maintain a strategic perspective and ensure the overall health and vitality of the Association. Help ensure that the Association's philosophy, mission, and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the Association.
• Coach and lead Communication, Marketing, Business Development, and Membership Services teams, including recruitment, training, and developing performance.
