General Summary
• Under supervision of the ASSIST Clinical Social Worker provides ongoing individual therapy and facilitate support groups to clients coming to ASSIST services.
• This position requires a thorough understanding of the clinic's philosophy of treatment, eligibility process and criteria. A basic knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is essential.

Principle Responsibilities and Tasks
• Handles special issues of sexual assault, domestic violence and child/elder abuse and neglect including, but not limited to rape trauma syndrome, and post-traumatic stress disorder
• Provides individual therapy for primary and secondary victims of violence
• Maintains a full client caseload based on employee status; 5-6 clients a day for 5 days or an average of 27 clients for 37.5 hrs/weeks
• Conducts safety planning with clients
• Assesses and intervenes with victims of violence as appropriate
• Accompanies victims of sexual assault to forensic medical exam, law enforcement interview and criminal justice proceedings
• Advocates and accompanies victims at the Child Advocacy Center
• Advocates for victims of violence
• Assist in filing orders of protection
• Facilitate support groups
• Assist with filling out victim's crime compensation fund form
• Maintains client files
• Ensures all client paperwork is filled out, signed and filed in a timely manner (within 5 days of appointment)
• Provides crisis intervention when appropriate
• Helps to coordinate services with victims of violence
• Be on-call to respond to victims on the scene or at hospital as needed
• Maintains client and family confidentiality
• Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations
• Prioritizes tasks and works effectively with complex tasks under pressure/time restraints/irregular schedules
• Issues of ethnic and economic diversity
• Medical, legal and social responsibilities in caring for sexual assault victims

Qualifications and Requirements
• Master's Degree in Social Work or other related field required with a minimum of one year experience in trauma services.  LSW or temporary LSW required; and obtain a license as a clinical social worker within three years of hire date.  LCSW or LMHC preferred.
• Ability to use age appropriate communication skills.
• Understands and has ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to use general office computer systems including Microsoft Office, Access and Publisher
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Contacts-Internal/External
• Direct contact with victims of sexual assault and other violence and their families
• Nurse Practitioner, forensic nurse examiners, social work students, volunteer advocates,
• and medical director
• Victim's of Crime Fund administrators.
• Law enforcement agencies and Prosecutor's office for Johnson and surrounding counties
• Professional and paraprofessional persons from various community agencies

Special Effort Required
• Must be willing to be on-call and work irregular hours due to the nature of the program
• Judgment is required, and discretion allowed in choosing and adapting process for patients
• Patience and sensitivity to work in an emotionally charge field with a variety of professional and paraprofessional personnel
• Effectively responds to stressful situations, both mentally and physically
• Mentally capable of processing information quickly.
• Demands good judgment in complex problem-solving situations concerning victims
• Provides quality of care that upholds the dignity of all
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid Indiana driver's license 
• Maintain auto insurance through duration employment
• Maintain professional liability insurance through duration of employment
• Avoids injury and infection
• Remains awake and alert at all times
• May be required to attend meetings or work remote from clinic or hospital campus, patient care areas, clinics, nursing offices- Exposure to communicable diseases and infections
• Educational, community and courtroom settings
