The Foundation seeks a Program Assistant to provide support to Program staff in the areas of data management and analysis, research and information gathering. The Program Assistant will report to the Director of Learning and Evaluation and Senior Program Officer. S/he will work closely with Program staff to help the Foundation execute strategies in support of its goals and ensure its grantmaking is grounded in high-quality evidence and data.

Governed by a ten-member Board of Directors, the Richard M. Foundation is an independent, private foundation awarding grants to tax-exempt organizations serving greater Indianapolis, Indiana. The Foundation has three focus areas: Education, Health, and the Vitality of Indianapolis. In addition, several organizations receive grant support from the Foundation due to a historical connection with Dick Fairbanks and his family. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assemble data and conduct analyses for original empirical research to understand the impact of the Foundation's grants and strategies and guide future grantmaking (e.g., measuring the impact of teachers trained by particular programs on student outcomes, using data to identify gaps in treatment for opioid misuse or tobacco use).
• Regularly update data points the Foundation tracks in its dashboard and on the Foundation's web page and assist in identification of additional data to inform the Foundation's grantmaking.
• Assist in developing presentations to the Foundation's Board of Directors and other key audiences.
• Collaborate with the Foundation's Director of Learning and Evaluation in identifying innovative ways to use data and research to inform grantmaking and maximize impact.
• Assist with research and data-gathering to identify effective interventions related to the Foundation's focus areas.
• Process reports from grantees and synthesize findings for review by Program staff.
• Review reports commissioned by the Foundation, as well as op-eds, blog posts and social media posts produced by the Foundation, for accuracy.
• Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who possess proficiency in data management and analysis, strong attention to detail, an ability to manage multiple projects effectively and an ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Ideal candidates should have:
• A Master's degree with 0-2 years of work experience or Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with degrees in public and environmental affairs, education, public health, public policy, philanthropy or other fields related to the Foundation's focus areas are strongly preferred.
• Experience assembling, merging, cleaning, analyzing and visualizing data and ability to demonstrate this experience, including work examples and/or relevant coursework.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with other data analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, SQL, Microsoft Access, Tableau) is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in using online data sources to retrieve data and synthesizing information from multiple sources (e.g., literature reviews).
• An extremely detail-oriented approach to work and the ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines and support others in doing the same.
