Working as part of the Donor Engagement team and reporting to the Manager, Donor Engagement, the Donor Engagement Officer plays a critical role in facilitating the donor development cycle from matching passion to organizational initiatives, to creating a gratifying giving experience, leading to renewed gifts and enhanced support and engagement. The Donor Engagement team oversees the gift acknowledgment process and donor recognition, working very closely with the fundraising, communications and corporate partnerships staff to ensure stewardship and impact reporting for leadership and major gift donors. This ultimately leads to enhanced donor engagement.

To strengthen a major gift culture, all fundraising staff at the Foundation are expected to know how to identify and refer major gift/corporate gift prospects and donors to the appropriate gift officer. It is essential for each fundraiser to develop a mindset and the necessary skills that result in urgent identification and referral.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1. Gift Acknowledgment

• Gift Acknowledgment: Ensure accurate and timely gift acknowledgment, providing support as requested for execution of a comprehensive stewardship plan. Lead regularly occurring stewardship process for major gifts, corporate partnerships and Riley Society teams. Initiate and contribute to the stewardship processes for other key leaders, including the President and CEO, Riley Hospital President and CEO, physicians, researchers, hospital staff and Board of Governors members. Also collaborate with colleagues to ensure that:
   1. Gifts are credited to appropriate funds;
   2. Donor intent is communicated to appropriate individuals; and,
   3. Donor funds are used appropriately.

• Donor Recognition: Ensure proper donor recognition through naming opportunities, giving societies, plaques, events and communications. Produce recognition listings in print or online, and oversee production of physical signage and donor walls at the Hospital. Manage ordering, inventory and distribution of donor recognition gifts. Collaborate with Communications to provide donor facts for the Child Art calendar and develop and implement other strategic touch points to donors and key partners.

2. Stewardship and Impact Reporting: Oversee and execute endowment reporting and the current use stewardship reporting process, including existing Impact Reports. Partner with fundraising and communications on impact reports. Schedule, oversee, and execute stewardship visits by major and leadership donors and prospects to the hospital, Museum Home and Camp Riley, recommending agenda, calendaring participants and space, preparing briefing materials and ensuring preparations are in place for visits. Ensure that donor visits support our mission and move donor strategy forward. Requests that involve the President and CEO, or the Hospital President and CEO, must be approved by the Manager, Donor Engagement.

3. Personal Contact between Fundraising Staff and Donors: Ensure ongoing personal contact between fundraising staff and donors through personalized and mass communications, including Messenger, Annual Report, event invitations, etc. and distribution/mailing criteria for all. Work strategically with Development Staff to identify and refer donors, and execute strategy to engage donors with Riley Children's Foundation. Act as the account executive for assigned internal fundraising teams.

4. General Team Functions: Set priorities for the overall Donor Relations program and collaborate on the annual program goals and plans. Continuously think of ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the team's work. Establish, review and revise written procedures as needed. Review policies and procedures in order to determine whether improvements can be made. Actively participate in adding data to the database and ensuring existing data is correct and up to date. Devise new ways of using the database to maximum effectiveness and efficiency. File and maintain records using effective electronic and paper filing systems.

5. Administrative
• Administrative: Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures including submitting expense reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, invoices, reports, RCF calendar additions, etc., by the deadlines assigned.
• Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children's Foundation meetings as appropriate. Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
• Budget: Work with your officer/direct manager to develop, manage and monitor the budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
• Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at Riley Children's Foundation.

6. Riley Children's Foundation Representative
• Volunteers: As appropriate, work with assigned community and service organizations that partner with Riley Children's Foundation to involve them in the mission.
• Tours: Give tours of the hospital, as appropriate.
7. Other Duties as Assigned
• Riley Children's Foundation events: Participate in Riley Children's Foundation Events as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
• Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 3-5 years' fundraising experience, preferably in a healthcare setting or equivalent client-focused environment. High-level knowledge of an overall donor journey or customer experience model.
• Skills: Solid relationship-building. Diplomacy and tact. Understanding of individual donor needs and perceptions. Strong ability to speak in public. Sensitivity to needs of donors. Problem-solving, research, analytical, writing and editing skills. Attention to detail and organization. Maturity to maintain matters in confidence. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a key focus on Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with SharePoint is a plus. Proficiency in use of databases.
• Qualities: Personal belief in Riley Children's Foundation vision, mission, core values and strategic direction. Results oriented. Ability to work independently under pressure and effectively prioritize a varied and diverse workload. Creative and resourceful.
