Indiana Donor Network is looking for a dynamic and talented leader with a background in development and outreach to lead our community development team.  This position is responsible for oversight of the community development team in order to achieve goals that support our mission through providing exceptional relationship management and customer service to external stakeholders outside of the hospital environment.  This includes advocates, funeral directors, coroners, educators, multicultural populations served, as well as our generally defined target audience for outreach and education.

Organization Overview
Indiana Donor Network is one of 58 designated organ recovery organizations in the United States and coordinates organ, tissue and eye donation throughout the state. Indiana Donor Network is devoted to public education about donation and transplantation with the goal of saving and enhancing more lives.

SPECIFICALLY, INDIANA DONOR NETWORK:
•         Provides Hoosiers with information needed to make an informed decision about donation
•         Offers access to the Indiana Donor Registry so people can register their decision
•         Evaluates potential donors for medical suitability to donate organs and/or tissue
•         Coordinates the donation process according to federal regulations and with the utmost respect for medical ethics
•         Offers grief support services to families before, during and after donation
•         Educates healthcare professionals about the donation process
•         Assists Indiana hospitals in developing donation policies and procedures

Position Duties
Indiana Donor Network is looking for a dynamic and talented leader with a background in development and outreach to lead our community development team.  This position is responsible for oversight of the community development team in order to achieve goals that support our mission through providing exceptional relationship management and customer service to external stakeholders outside of the hospital environment.  This includes advocates, funeral directors, coroners, educators, multicultural populations served, as well as our generally defined target audience for outreach and education.

Key responsibilities include:

Develops the department's strategic agendas to ensure that the resources and actions of the department are effective and aligned with the organization's mission, vision, goals and regulatory compliance.
•         Prepares and maintains an annual budget that adequately supports the activities and demands of the community development department which are aligned with the organization's financial and operational needs and goals. 
•         Advises the Director regarding vision, strategy and policies. 
•         Analyzes and uses information and data, including available national surveys on public perception about donation, social and political issues affecting healthcare decisions, social media trends, the state's donor registry, and information and data collected by the corporation on the donation process that may support and/or improve all communication to stakeholders for the purpose of reaching organizational goals. 
•         Provides outstanding and timely customer service. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with leadership, administration, directors, staff, and physicians, serving as an advisor and team member for all marketing, public relations and communications activities. 
•         Ensures compliance with all regulations impacting the department's activities through internal audits and on-going compliance checks. 
 
Oversees the development and execution of outreach programming performed by the community development department staff.
•         Oversees the recruitment, relationships, and training of volunteers who assist with community education programming. 
•         Leads community development team through a high emphasis on accountability for activities and touchpoints in defined markets, to include multicultural and youth populations. 
•         Supports, sustains, and improves relationships with Indiana's law enforcement agencies, first responders, funeral directors and coroners for the purpose of achieving organizational donation goals.  

Leads donation advocacy and consultancy to funeral homes and coroners within the Indiana Donor Network designated service area (DSA) with the goal of improving relationships and reducing negative influence that may be imparted upon families that results in organ or tissue declines.
•         Guides team to establish a routine outreach plan for key contacts that includes calling after case activity to gauge satisfaction. 
•         Responsible for ensuring there is a 24/7 internal escalation path for any coroner or funeral home issues. 
•         Establishes and maintains a professional, active presence with organizations that represent the needs of our diverse Hoosier population.
•         Collaborates with internal partners and leadership peers to effectively remove barriers whenever possible. 
Meets defined business development goals.
•         Grows assigned designated service area by delivering on expected touchpoints and outcomes for key service areas. 
•         Develops and implements a monthly strategic execution plan for meeting established goals. 

Provides direction to and/or manages the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, productive, and professional work force for Indiana Donor Network.
•         Recruits and selects direct reports. Provides guidance in the recruitment and selection of indirect reports. 
•         Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired results; resolves internal or external barriers that prohibit successful goal achievement. 
•         Communicates and models the vision and values of the organization to create a sense of teamwork among employees. 
•         Identifies training and development opportunities that will support employees in achieving enhanced performance and/or work- related objectives. 

Position Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, health administration or health-related field, as well as six to ten years of experience in the related field.  A Master's Degree is preferred.  Previous exposure to a critical care delivery setting is preferred.
