Directs IFA's fundraising and builds IFA's base of support to accomplish its mission of forest protection. Develops a multi-faceted fundraising program that includes personal solicitation, mass appeals, grant writing, fundraising events, and other steps to generate support for IFA. Works with other staff to envision IFA's image and programs and maximize public support for these programs.

IFA Overview:
Founded in 1996, Indiana Forest Alliance (IFA) is a non-profit, statewide organization of individuals dedicated to the long-term health and well-being of Indiana's native forests. We are volunteers and full-time staff working to protect and restore Indiana's forests.
IFA serves citizens, organizations, landowners and communities with a wide range of interests in Indiana's forests. We provide accurate and scientific information to the people of Indiana to involve them in efforts to protect Indiana's forests and ensure their opportunities for input into decision-making that affects forests. We speak out for the native animals, plants and other creatures who survive in Indiana's forests and cannot speak for themselves.

Duties and Functions:
1) Commands a strong grasp of IFA's mission and articulates cogent, compelling reasons to give to IFA.
2) Approaches individuals, businesses, organizations, and other institutions to give to IFA and/or become members of the organization. Works with staff, the Board, and volunteer committees to undertake these approaches.
3) Develops an annual development plan with benchmarks and dates.
4) Develops levels of support for the organization, consistent across digital and print publications.
5) Works with staff to locate support for IFA's mission among foundations and draft grant requests to support IFA programs as outlined in IFA's Strategic Plan. Develops working relationships with foundation staff. Ensures that foundation reporting requirements are met.
6) Work with communications and outreach staff to plan, publicize, and direct IFA's fundraising and friend-raising events.
7) In partnership with communications staff, directs and implements mass solicitation of support through mail (including through IFA's newsletter and direct mail appeals), email, phone, social media, and the internet.
8) Investigates and pursues other means for fundraising such as telemarketing, gifts of stock, workplace giving, bequests, endowments, etc.
9) Employs creative, consistent methods for acknowledging and thanking donors in a timely fashion.
10) Manages CRM database to keep accurate lists of donors (individuals, couples) and produces reports as needed.
11) Works with Director of Operations to document and categorize donations accurately.
12) Makes presentations to groups to develop them into supporters and donors.
13) Develops the case for support and other materials with which to fundraise.
14) Develops IFA policies for fundraising and ensures that fundraising is in keeping with policies of the organization, includes IFA leadership and Board of Directors.

Skills, Education & Qualities:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, humanities, ecology, public policy, or business required. At least 3-4 years of fundraising/development experience required, including grant writing. The ideal candidate will be familiar with WordPress, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and online CRM databases, such as Bloomerang and Nationbuilder. The candidate will be results-oriented, creative, and passionate about environmental advocacy with an understanding of how non-profits operate. Excellent writing, speaking, and editing skills a must.
