Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the full-time, benefit – eligible position of Research Analyst.  Reporting to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the incumbent will support institutional research, planning, and decision making across campus, pursue directed and self-guided research to find key insights that may shape policy, provide stakeholders with actionable information, and produce materials needed for decision-making.
 
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
developing robust data analytics tools to address policy questions, operations-based inquiries, and strategic initiatives using complex data available in the IU data warehouse as well as external sources; using research and data to evaluate programs, services, and policies; making recommendations based on research findings, particularly with regard to student success initiatives; creating reports, dashboards, visualizations, and presentations to share analyses with a diverse group of both technical and non-technical audiences; developing and administering IUK-wide surveys; coordinating the administration of IU-wide surveys at IUK; analyzing and sharing survey responses with campus audiences; retrieving and manipulating data for ad hoc requests from decision-makers; compiling data from multiple data sources and preparing reports in support of external compliance submissions, academic program reviews, accreditation, and strategic initiatives; maintaining historical queries, data, and reports to facilitate future reporting efforts and updating as needed; ensuring the integrity of data and reports distributed to campus constituents.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; two years of experience in institutional research, data analysis, or a similar area in either higher education or business environments; however, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and exchange complex information with diverse audiences; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; ability to manage multiple projects at once; superior attention to detail and demonstrated ability to self-monitor quality control and accuracy; aptitude to learn new software and methods quickly; advanced knowledge of Excel and Access; technical proficiency with database applications and familiarity with related query languages, especially SQL.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree with quantitative coursework preferred; understanding of higher education and familiarity with an academic or similar environment preferred; knowledge of statistics and visualization tools such as SPSS, Stata, and Tableau preferred; previous experience using a student information system is a plus.
