Founded in 1968, Classical Music Indy (formerly the Fine Arts Society) has enjoyed nearly 50 years of providing free classical music to greater Indianapolis. While we remain the leader in providing world-class classical music radio programs to central Indiana, Classical Music Indy (CMI) has undergone a number of exciting new organizational changes, including a name change, to better reflect our refreshed organizational philosophy that is guiding our broadening scope of programs. CMI is now in the process of bringing new programming to scale – in 2014, CMI created Our Music on-air multicultural programming and Music Unites off-air programming that delivers multicultural, community-based music programs designed to: better reflect the diversity of our local community; enhance the quality of life for Indianapolis' musically underserved residents; beautify our city's neighborhoods and public spaces through creative placemaking and community concerts; and increase resident civic engagement and participation in community events. We are seeking a dynamic team of young intern professionals to assist us in bringing these new programs to scale, broadening the reach and impact of classical music while increasing inclusivity in the Indianapolis arts community.
CMI is currently seeking an experienced, organized, and highly collaborative individual for the position of Community Programs Assistant. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Engagement, the Community Programs Assistant will be responsible for ensuring community collaboration and relations, awareness and execution of programs, social media content management, and timely data collection and reporting.
This position will strengthen the organization's presence in the community, execute and enhance current programs, and provide accurate documentation to support the continued growth of CMI.
Reports to: Assistant Director of Community Engagement
-A Bachelor's degree with 2-4+ years of experience in program management or coordination in nonprofit fields OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
-Able to establish and grow relationships with community partners.
-Able to collect and analyze program data.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and task management software.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.
-Able to multi-task, prioritize, and learn quickly.
-Professional demeanor, engaging personality, adaptability, patience, and highly motivated work ethic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation
-Research and select best venues, community contacts, and neighborhood representatives to serve as Music Unites program partners.
-Assist in management of recruitment and scheduling of musicians to expand and diversify CMI performer roster.
-Assist in the development of an Outreach Strategy for annual program delivery and expansion.
-Plan and execute CMI events at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Community Engagement: schedule dates and times with venues, contract musicians for performances, provide marketing assistance for events, manage operations and logistics at events, collect audience demographic data at events, and communicate thoroughly with site partners and musicians..
-Assist in the maintenance of existing partnerships
-Report site schedule and availability for programming to Assistant Director of Community Engagement.
-Send thank you correspondence to program partners as programs are completed.
-Assist in management of marketing collaborations between partners.
Reporting and Data Collection:
-Help execute schedule for collection of formal evaluations that coincide with grant periods and reporting schedules.
-Collect program data and communicate appropriate data and testimonial information to CMI Leadership for grant reports and to ensure grant compliance.
Social Media Management:
- Write social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (with assistance from Assistant Director of Community Engagement, as needed).
- Schedule posts in advance (through Hootsuite or Facebook), with an emphasis on visual media according to Social Media Calendar.
- Research and tag all partners across all social media platforms.
- Maintain Social Media Metrics document to gauge trends and audience interests.
- With assistance from Community Programs Manager, respond to all comments through social media.
