The Tobacco Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing the tobacco prevention and cessation programs for the Minority Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Initiative. Responsibilities will include assisting with the development, planning and the implementation and evaluation of the tobacco initiatives of the agency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Initiate and maintain community partnerships with all levels of organizational and governmental units to assure wide based support to tobacco initiatives.
• Assists with the development of health education and training programs for specific target groups.
• Secure partnerships with Head Start Centers and similar childcare providers to implement the Breathe: Healthy Steps to Living Tobacco Free program.
• Cultivate community support of and participation in programs related to tobacco prevention and cessation for the Great American Smoke Out, Cessation Month and No Menthol Sunday.
• Coordinate promotion of program activities in schools, neighborhood health centers, health care providers- including mental health providers and the general public
• Communicate with public and program participants via email and/or telephone about TPC programs and services.
• Increase number of referrals to the Indiana Tobacco Quitline through monthly cessation detailing with preferred providers and preferred employers
• Assist with the planning and implementation of smoke free MUH trainings for property owners, managers and residents
• Develop and maintain a list of Marion County and surrounding county employers that are tobacco free; and develop and maintain a list of Marion County and surrounding county employers that are NOT tobacco free or in need of a smoking cessation program.
• Educate employers in the preferred employer network and the benefits of tobacco free worksites
• Educate school administrators, students and parents on tobacco free school policies.
• Increase number of IUL program participant referrals to smoking cessation programs.
• Enter client demographic information in to Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database.
• Create and maintain database of tobacco free school (including electronic nicotine delivery devices) policies in Marion County.
• Active participation in the Smoke Free Indy Coalition
• Prepare monthly reimbursement invoices to ISDH/TPC and submit to Director of Health and Wellness for review and submission to ISDH/TPC.
• Prepare program report documents monthly to ISDH/TPC. Submit to Director of Health and Wellness for review and submission to ISDH/TPC.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Health and Wellness or Vice President of Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completed Baccalaureate degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health; or one of the social or behavioral sciences; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of evidence based tobacco prevention and cessation strategies. Knowledge of program planning, health advocacy and policy development. Strong computer and desktop skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and Google Docs

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Knowledge of Spanish desirable but not required.
 
READING/COMPREHENSION SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend, and write  instructions, correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group and large group situations to participants, health professionals and various other organizations, businesses, schools and community groups.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to use own initiative in carrying out projects and program goals/objectives. Ability to cope with numerous/varied requests. Ability to establish priorities to meet deadlines as required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Indiana driver's license and access to transportation.
