The Communications Coordinator creates social media strategies consistent with the priorities of School on Wheels, implements and sustains content, and tracks the impact of communications on volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts. This position is also responsible for creating all organizational e-newsletters, maintaining and updating www.indyschoolonwheels.org, and supporting the creation of print materials in alignment with School on Wheels' mission, values, and strategic plan priorities. 
 
Reports to:  Grants & Communications Director 

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Social Media Coordination
 
• Develop content to engage and inform current and future volunteers, donors, and advocates through social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
• Actively engage in social listening and stewardship while cultivating relationships with community partners, businesses, and media.
• Manage, track, and evaluate communications and social media metrics. Provide monthly reports.
 
Writing and Design
• Coordinate Salesforce Marketing Cloud communications to donors, tutors, and advocates. Create and implement monthly Chalk Talk and Tutor Times e-newsletters, quarterly parent and partner e-newsletters, special alerts, and update email welcome series for new advocates and volunteers.
• Assist with the development and design of print materials for special events, fundraising campaigns, parent/partner facing collateral, and development of organizational marketing materials. 
• Create videos as needed for social campaigns and to serve as tutor/partner resources.
• Write, wordsmith, and edit materials as requested to ensure clarity and consistency of the School on Wheels voice for segmented audiences.

Engagement and Innovation
 
• Stay informed about interactive social and digital media best practices and trends to support School on Wheels outreach goals and initiatives. 
• Engage in opportunities to learn more about youth homelessness and education.
• Attend tutoring and special events during the day and after hours to capture images and stories to share across platforms. 
 
 
Experience, education, degrees, and licenses 
 
Minimum requirements:  
• Bachelor Degree.
• Two years' experience in communications, advertising, marketing, journalism, or public relations.
• Demonstrated writing/editing skills
• Demonstrated computer/communications software skills with all or some of the following tools: Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, Buffer, Canva, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Jot Form, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Studio, Slack, WordPress.  

Availability Requirements 
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week 
• Must be available to attend workshops, panels, conferences, etc. that potentially fall outside the regular work day. 
• Must be available for meetings and events presented on the calendar at the beginning of the year.
