Under direction of the Director of Grant Development Operations and in collaboration with the Ivy Tech development offices statewide, the Grant Writer provides support for grant proposal development functions. The Grant Writer performs research to identify and respond to grant opportunities; supports the development of grant proposals to private, state, and federal funding sources; and helps foster a culture of grants and philanthropy at Ivy Tech. This position will collaborate with Systems Office, campuses, and Sponsored Programs as well as faculty and staff statewide.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Grant Development Operations to identify local, regional, and statewide needs and funding opportunities related to grants.
Support project teams to prepare grant proposal narratives and budgets
Research and identify grant funding opportunities via numerous online resources; disseminate funding opportunities to the appropriate faculty and staff.
Serve as a liaison on specific grant projects, working with the funding organizations to ensure timely coordination of activities.
Strategize with Grant Development Office team to foster participation in the grant process.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Experience in conducting research on grant opportunities and successful grant management is required.
Grant writing experience with federal, state, and local funders.
Experience working in a collaborative office environment is required.
An ability to engage professionally with college and funding partners is required.
Proficiency with general computer skills is required (Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; social media; online meetings (ZOOM).
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
Must exhibit professional demeanor; initiative; good judgment; be able to work well under pressure and independently; be detail oriented; and positively anticipate and respond to changing priorities.
A willingness and ability to travel occasionally on College business is required.
Experience working in educational settings is preferred.
Experience working with granting agencies and foundations that support higher education is preferred.
