The Director of Education and Outreach is responsible for developing and managing all on- and off-site educational programs. This entails the overall strategy, development, implementation, and evaluation of these programs. Cultivates partnerships and collaborations that strengthen community participation in and support of educational art experiences. 
 
Essential Job Functions:
· Creates, administers and monitors departmental budget.
· Set annual goals and objectives.
· Supervises and manages Associate Director of Education, Youth/Teen Program Manager & Community Outreach Manager. Provides feedback, evaluations, training, problem solving and brainstorming.
· Oversees consistent performance evaluations of all programming based on desired outcomes.
· Assists Development department with grant writing, reporting, and specific development initiatives.
· Assists Marketing department in the marketing of programs.
· Serves on the Art Center's Leadership team, which directs and implements the organization's strategic planning and goals.
· Monitors community needs and emerging trends/technologies in arts education, and work with program directors to develop programs that serve these needs within the mission and capacity of the organization.
· Seeks out new or underserved audiences in the community. Works with Education team to develop mission-appropriate programming to serve those audiences.
· Initiates collaborative programming with other visual and performing arts organizations, educational institutions and other community groups as appropriate.
   
Additional Job Functions: 
· Participates in professional and networking opportunities by attending conferences, trainings, seminars, events and participating in professional organizations.
· Serves as an Art Center advocate and ambassador to the community.
· Actively participates in retention and recruitment of students.
· Performs site visits and evaluations.
· Plans and execute program-related exhibitions and/or events, working alongside the appropriate departments. 
· Assists with Art Center major events and openings. 
· Performs other duties as required to represent senior staff of the Art Center.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills 
· Curriculum development 
· Working knowledge of a variety of art media 
· Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office software 
· Functional knowledge of ActiveNet registration software desired (not required) 
 
Education and Experience: 
· A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in art, art education or a related field. Master's Degree preferred. 
· 3-5 years of supervisory experience 
· Project management experience 
· Experience developing curricula 
· Prior teaching experience preferred 
   
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
· Works primarily indoors in open office environment 
· Works regular hours; some evening and weekend hours are required 
· Occasional physical demands associated with carrying/moving art materials and supplies, installing exhibitions; must be able to climb ladders and lift a maximum of 25 lbs. 
· Individuals must be able to move freely about the work site. 
· Individuals must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
· Must be available to work some nights and weekend hours
· Must have a valid driver's license and driving record to travel to community partner sites
