Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the PSOE Bookkeeper provides accounting/bookkeeping support to the organization with emphasis on Accounts Payable processing, support to third party payroll vendor to process payroll, regular reimbursement and voucher input, utilizes accounting practices, initiates banking duties, and provides financial assistance to others in the organization. ‬

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Accounts receivable, which includes invoicing clients based on their preference of daily, weekly, or monthly invoicing; plus, entry of invoices into QuickBooks.
• Accounts payable entries into QuickBooks as required.
• Keeping track of deposits as needed.
• Review accounting data for accuracy and compliance with SBOA. Reconcile accounts to detail. Determine required general ledger entries.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial documents for management review. ‬‬‬‬‬
• Prepare bank reporting documentation.‬
• Provide support for annual budget process including data aggregation, expenditures and schedules.‬‬‬
• Seek out ways to improve financial processes. Demonstrate a desire to improve quality, speed and efficiency. ‬‬‬‬
• Participate in meetings, as needed, to provide progress reports and receive instructions.‬‬‬‬
• Prepare work papers and provide information that support the annual financial audit‬‬‬‬.
• Manage grants, including filing expenditures, generating grant reports, and filing reimbursements.
• Communicate proactively throughout the company to ensure that the financial processes runs smoothly and consistently. Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the organization.
• Ensure that the organization complies with all financial legislation, including taxation and withholding payments.
• Provide additional clerical and administrative support, as needed

The Bookkeeper will be thoroughly committed to the PSOE mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
• CPA License
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or Associate's degree with a minimum of two years of accounting-related experience is recommended. Education-related finance experience is highly valued. ‬
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic knowledge of basic accounting and accounts receivable
• Ability to learn industry specific software
• Ability to work in task-driven environment
• Exceptional attention to accuracy and detail
• Excellent organizational and proactive problem solving skills
• Active listening skills and with ability to follow-through tasks at hand
• Must be a team player with the ability to work independently

• Proficiency in modern business technology applications.
• QuickBooks experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/ voluntary organizations.
• Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to charter organizations including: employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, payroll, health coverage, etc.
• Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.
• Knowledge of human resources management.
• Knowledge of financial management.
• Knowledge of project management.
