Help others discover and learn about Indiana's past and present through hands-on experiences showcasing the stories of real people, places and things at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. As an integral part of the museum's development team, the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager will work with community partners at the local level to secure and manage grant awards and sponsorships for all 12 locations within the museum system.
 
Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites
The mission of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is to celebrate, explore and steward all that is authentically wondrous about Indiana.  The ISMHS is a forward-thinking, unparalleled resource for learning about and appreciating Indiana and its role in the world. We discover, collect, preserve, interpret and present artifacts and exhibits that showcase the stories of Indiana's natural and cultural history, art and science.
 
Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager furthers the mission of the ISMHS by supporting the development department's diverse efforts to secure and manage grant awards and sponsorships, as well as cultivate meaningful and lasting relationships with corporations, foundations and government agencies. This position is a vital part of the development team and reports to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. As the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager, you will be required to travel statewide to work directly with the communities surrounding each of ISMHS' 12 locations and will be expected to work occasional weekends and evenings.
 
A day in the life

Grants
•  Locate diverse and viable grant funding sources
•  Identify, cultivate and steward strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with foundations and government agencies
•  Work with multiple departments to develop grant narratives and budgets
•  Prepare and submit grant proposals and reporting requirements
•  Monitor multiple projects at once to ensure complete compliance of grant awards
•  Aid in the development and implementation of evaluations related to grant proposals and awards
 
Sponsorship
•  Identify, cultivate and steward strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with corporations
•  Maintain a pipeline of diverse and viable corporate sponsors
•  Liaise with multiple departments to stay informed of ISMHS offerings
•  Manage entire prospect flow for corporate partners – list management, proposal development, solicitation, gift closing, stewardship and renewal
•  Ensure complete compliance of sponsorships
•  Create outcome communications and reports for all sponsorships

What we're looking for
•  Experience in a museum, arts/culture organization and/or non-profit agency
•  Undergraduate degree required with a preference for nonprofit management, arts administration and philanthropic studies
•  A strong work ethic supported by commitment and excellent follow-up and follow-through
•  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
•  Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to accuracy and detail
•  Ability to work externally to build and maintain relationships with various donors and stakeholders
•  Ability to synthesize information into clear and compelling narratives
•  Ability to explain and interpret budgets and data analysis
•  Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
•  Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
•  Display a professional image and have the ability to handle people and situations with diplomacy, discretion and a sense of urgency
