The Damien Center, Indiana's largest nonprofit focused on providing quality care and prevention for those affected by HIV and AIDS, is seeking a Major Gifts Officer.
 
Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Donor Relations Officer, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for helping Damien Center reach its fundraising goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts. This individual will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors by designing and developing solicitation strategies, identifying gift opportunities that match donor interests, and personally soliciting gifts and continually stewarding major gift donors.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
• Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with the Damien Center
• Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools
• Build, manage and solicit a portfolio of major gift prospects
  o Identify major gift prospects and develop individual engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts
  o Prepare written proposals, gift agreements, funder pitches, and other materials needed to define, secure and document major gifts.
  o Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board, CEO, Chief Donor Relations Officer and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
  o Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition
  o Utilize the donor database to maintain records of contacts with donors and prospects
  o Work with the Chief Donor Relations Officer to align efforts and set goals
  o Track and report progress using specific metrics
 
Skills and Experience:
• Must have a minimum of 2-5 years of fund development experience securing major gifts
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong professional relationships with stakeholders to build lifelong partnerships and trust while aligning their passions with the mission, priorities and goals of the Damien Center
• Innovative, self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects well, working both independently and as a team member.
• Microsoft Office Suite ability required
• Experience working with constituent relationship management software systems
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to manage fundraising events
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Education:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Fundraising certifications: Certificate Fundraising Executive (CFRE) or Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE), preferred

Physical Requirement:
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to work specific evenings and weekends as needed
