The school's leadership embraces a uniquely bold, multidisciplinary approach that capitalizes on its visionary history, as well as its emerging strengths.  Key topics include opiates; sexual and reproductive health; obesity and nutrition; rigor, reproducibility, and transparency; exercise science; injury prevention, drowning prevention, and concussion prevention; aging; vector-bourne and infectious diseases; as well as an interest in exploring gun violence, racial, sexual, and other violence.  We seek a dynamic fundraiser who has the ability to acquire funding for endowed professorships, department chairs and deanships; endowed research funds and graduate fellowships; new faculty; doctoral students; research lab infrastructure and research projects; endowments for awards, seminars, and lectureships; and undergraduate scholarships.

The Executive Director of Development plays an integral role in the philanthropic and outreach efforts of the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington. This position creates strategies and provides leadership and direction for private gift support; development functions; alumni outreach; and collaborates with communications/marketing/branding efforts for the School.

Responsibilities include major gifts prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; campaign development and management; planned giving oversight; and coordination of cultivation and solicitation efforts among the School's many departments, programs, and centers.

Working with the Dean, faculty, senior staff, the Dean's Alliance, and Indiana University Foundation's designated liaison, the Executive Director of Development will maximize private support for the School. Through fundraising, stewardship, alumni and volunteer engagement, the Executive Director will continue to generate the momentum to reach the financial and programmatic goals for the school and its constituents.

Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
Experience: Eight years of professional fundraising experience including proven success in major gift development work and solid leadership experience required. Ten years of experience preferred.  Combinations of related education and experience will be considered.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing required. Ability to understand and respect confidentiality is a must. An understanding and commitment to Indiana University, and the School of Public Health-Bloomington is a benefit. Possess an ability to work comfortably within an academic environment that possesses many competing interests, priorities, and opinions. Have proficiency with Indiana University and Indiana University Foundation applications. The Executive Director of Development must possess an excellent knowledge of fundraising with a general knowledge of marketing, and communications, as well as demonstrated skills in major and planned gift solicitation and experience with major gift prospect management systems. The Executive Director of Development must have outstanding interpersonal, community, foundation and corporate relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community. The position requires high energy and focus. Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; handle multiple projects concurrently; proficient with Microsoft Office products. Supervisory/management experience required.
