Fundraising Operations & Research Team - Fundraising Division

The Fundraising Research Manager (Prospect Research) is responsible for the management and operations of prospect identification, pipeline development, prospect research, analysis of corporate accounts, moves management and relationship management. Additional duties include proactive and reactive prospecting and research assignments in conjunction with departmental fundraising goals, conducting detailed research, and collaborating on projects that support the fundraising team. The Fundraising Research Manager will also be responsible for maintaining research and key data information in the donor database, completing research requests, and assisting with special projects related to fundraising.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

Prospect & Portfolio Management:
• Manage prospect pipeline for corporate accounts and individuals.
• Assist with creation and management of corporate and individual donor portfolios for fundraising team members.
• Oversee the development of policies and procedures around prospect pipeline management and activity.
• Develop and maintain a moves management system, including establishing baselines and metrics for movement and activity.
• Identify major and transformational giving prospects and ensure data quality and regular profile maintenance of top donors.
• Manage research request queue and respond to requests in a timely manner.
Research & Operations:
• Conduct strategic prospect research through the verification and analysis of biographical, financial, and philanthropic information on individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects.
• Conduct Fundraising analysis projects, including suggest giving, and make organizational recommendations. Additionally, provide quality ROI analysis to assess the effectiveness of UWCI programs, initiatives, and other projects.
• Manage biographical records, utilizing methods such as daily news screenings, reviewing push technology/alerts, and donors lists to identify new individual, corporate and foundation prospects and monitor current prospects.
• Collaborate and regularly meet with Strategic Information team members for surveys and other cross-departmental projects.
• Collaborate and regularly meet with Marketing & Communications team members for research, evaluation and targeting of donor communications.
• Update and maintain a complex database of confidential information to ensure current and accurate information. Extract information from a Microsoft CRM database, analyze, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on findings.
• Participate in on-going professional development activities as relevant, to maintain and enhance skills and abilities and stay abreast of current prospect management trends and research techniques. Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis.

Annual Goals: Achieve established goals. Work with the Director, Fundraising Operations & Research to ensure goals reflect and align and contribute to the broader goals of the organization.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred. Work experience may substitute for education requirements on a case by case basis.
• Five or more years of successful prospect research experience, library science, information management, analytics or another related field.
• Experience using a CRM database, iWave, WealthEngine, LexisNexis and/or other prospect research subscription services is preferred. 
• Excellent written communication skills and a clear, concise writing style are key skills to this position.  
• Significant aptitude with research methods and experience with computers and relational databases
• Ability to follow ethical standards, utilize discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
