A key goal of the No Kid Hungry Campaign is to implement changes that will have a lasting impact to address child hunger issues in Indiana. The Indiana Breakfast Contractor will engage in the activities outlined below in coordination with the Field Manager, No Kid Hungry, and key stakeholders to increase participation in the school breakfast across the state of Indiana.

This contract has a length of approximately 10 months (projected end date of June 30, 2020), and is a part-time contractor position with no benefits


Conduct Outreach to Schools
• Upon request, assist regional Breakfast Task Forces with outreach to districts in target geographic areas to solicit grant proposals. Research relevant information about school districts when needed.
• Conduct outreach on behalf of school breakfast efforts, including grant opportunities, engaging district and school staff such as school nutrition directors, coordinated school health coordinators, principals, superintendents, teachers, Boards of Education, parents, and community stakeholders.
• Assess readiness of schools and school districts to adopt Breakfast after the Bell programs during initial conversations while troubleshooting common barriers to determine schools' capacity for successful Breakfast after the Bell implementation.
• Answer basic questions about the No Kid Hungry grants system and funder requirements to assist with grant application submissions.
• Maintain records of outreach (including outreach lists and call notes; template and tools to be provided by No Kid Hungry) and communicate regularly with No Kid Hungry Indiana campaign lead to provide status updates.
• As needed, participate in or lead meetings with key influencers, decision-makers and stakeholders to secure support for school breakfast program expansion.

Provide Technical Assistance to School Nutrition Staff
• Make site visits to program grantees as requested to identify challenges and opportunities, and work with Indiana Department of Education staff and No Kid Hungry partners to identify technical assistance, trainings and solutions for grantees.
• Respond to specific requests for technical assistance and support from School Nutrition Staff (on site, virtually or via phone consultation). Consultation could cover issues such as: menus, procurement, Breakfast after the Bell implementation, equipment selection and recommendations, operational efficiencies for school nutrition programs, and other issues affecting school nutrition departments and their breakfast programs, such as: staffing, budgeting, food waste, and marketing and communications for nutrition programs.

Project Management
• Lead the ongoing coordination of five regional Breakfast Task Forces consisting of on the ground partners supporting breakfast expansion through wraparound support, inclusive of quarterly in-person meetings and monthly calls.
• Participate in monthly check-in calls and/or in-person meetings with relevant No Kid Hungry staff members and Breakfast Task Forces to discuss specific projects and action items as stated in contract.
• Provide weekly reporting through tracking tools providing by No Kid Hungry to No Kid Hungry staff about progress of outreach, recruited grantees, barriers in specifics districts and recommended technical assistance.

Training and Resource Development                  
• As requested, develop and implement training for Breakfast Task Force partners on how to work with School Nutrition Staff and ensure operational knowledge.
• Work with Breakfast Task Force and Share Our Strength Center for Best Practices to develop tailored resources to support breakfast expansion, such as toolkits and trainings.
• Represent No Kid Hungry on webinars, in meetings and at conferences.
Has regular contact with Share Our Strength state and national staff, community stakeholders, volunteers, and community partners. 

Normal office work environment and up to 30% travel.

• Bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years minimum experience in school setting, including nutrition programs or education.
• Proven relationship management experience with school and high-level stakeholders.
• Knowledge of implementation and administration of school nutrition programs or school administration preferred.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office, and ability to quickly learn new programs and platforms.
• Driver's license and car required.
• Must reside in Indiana.

This position is classified as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
