Fundraising Team

Position Summary
United Way of Central Indiana recognizes that the key to success is a strong and cohesive team that works through shared values to achieve our mission. The Special Events Intern is a member of the fundraising team and will be an integral part of promoting the United Way brand, fostering a better understanding of United Way, encouraging volunteer involvement and providing recognition for United Way of Central Indiana donors and companies.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.  They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. 
• Coordinate activities associated with the creation, coordination and implementation of new and existing special events.
• Coordinate silent auction for United Way fundraising event in late February.
• Evaluate and analyze event and activity results through effective documentation and records as directed.
• Identify and assist in securing silent auction donations and in-kind products.
• Work with marketing staff to ensure events positively and effectively convey brand message.
• Assist in managing volunteer event committees to develop and implement event project plans.
• Generate enthusiasm among staff and volunteers for special events and promote a cooperative spirit within the organization among volunteers, agencies, investors and clients.
• Assist with set-up, tear down and running of select United Way events.
• Work with volunteer committees to develop special event plans that build and mobilize a volunteer base to take an active role in implementation of events.
• Assure the United Way message, brand and good community relations are evident in all special events.
• Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis.

Education and/or Experience
A minimum of two years of college completion and current enrollment/recent graduation required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements on a case by case basis
A history of volunteer activities and experiences preferred.
Computer proficiency and a working knowledge of various computer and database software including Microsoft's Excel, Word and PowerPoint is essential.
