YMCA MISSION
The mission of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Association Senior Director of Marketing, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator will assist with the association's marketing, public relations and communications programs in support of the nonprofit's strategic plan and mission.

KNOW HOW
•         An associate's degree or higher, or currently enrolled collegiate senior, in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism or related field, and 2-4 years professional work experience is preferred. 
•         Desktop publishing (InDesign, Photoshop), basic photography and video production, and know-how in these or similar Saas platforms: WordPress, Delivra, and Hootsuite. 
•         Experience supporting a multi-location organization preferred.
•         Must possess public relations skills, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous and professional manner with people and enjoy a high degree of public contact. 
•         High level of design, written, oral and people-oriented communication skills.
•         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to work independently and handle numerous projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment is required. 
           
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•     Assist with marketing, PR and communications for the YMCA Association Office and encourage "best practices" in these areas.
•         Create compelling content for the YMCA through solid research, copywriting, editing and design:
  o   Program guides, flyers, brochures and other materials
  o   Blogs, news releases, newsletters, emails, social media posts
  o   Onsite TV monitors and marquees
  o   Video, photography and other digital assets
•         Be a brand ambassador and help others adhere to YMCA Brand and Style Guidelines, including helping to train and mentor center and program staff in these areas.
•     Support marketing and communications for special Association campaigns and events.
•         Assist with responses to and help coordinate requests from community, civic and partner organizations. Staff event booths and provide partnership fulfillment as needed.
•         Assist with media relations: Draft media advisories and pitches, distribute collateral to news stations; follow up to secure coverage.
•         Assist in crisis communications response as needed.
•         Monitor daily email, website, social media and media activity.
•         Run monthly reports, share insights and participate in department recommendations.
•     Perform other duties as assigned.
