Christian Theological Seminary is a fully accredited ecumenical graduate school located in Indianapolis, IN related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive engagement program for alumni relations and annual giving in support of Christian Theological Seminary's (CTS) mission. The Director will support activities focused on enhancing alumni loyalty and pride among the CTS alumni community through alumni volunteer management, special events, outreach, annual giving, and programs designed to increase participation and build financial support. The Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving reports to the Vice President for Advancement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement and communication plan to strengthen relationships between the Seminary and its alumni.
• Develop and implement an annual giving program that includes a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies including email, direct mail, social media, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
• Devise fundraising strategies, programs and activities to increase the Seminary's resources and number of benefactors, while having a keen focus on retaining our existing benefactors.
• Collaborate with development colleagues on the identification of alumni prospects for support; communicate development related activities via written contact reports.
• Cultivate relationships with current students and staff, alumni and partner-congregations.
• Develop and execute a Faculty and Staff Annual Giving campaign.
• Serve as staff liaison of one or more alumni volunteer groups.
• Partner with staff and faculty across the seminary to track alumni engagement and input alumni participation in the advancement database.
• Assist with developing and reviewing volunteer affinity groups, and regional networks.
• Assist with developing and reviewing volunteer onboarding, off-boarding and recognition programs.
• Develop and facilitate programming to share with current and recent graduates that communicates the importance of philanthropy and what it means to be a CTS alum.
• Represent the advancement office at alumni and student events as needed.
• Working with the advancement team, organize, execute and provide operational support for Seminary Advancement sponsored/supported constituency events as needed.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or directed by the VP for Advancement.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
• Demonstrated experience with annual giving and/or fundraising campaigns.
• Demonstrated project management and volunteer management experience.
• Exceptional organizational, human relations, writing skills, and must be comfortable with public speaking and making cold calls.
• High comfort level and adaptability with technology including CRM software.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required including tact, empathy, candor, and kindness. Must be able to work with diverse groups and constituencies including alumni, students, faculty, administrators and trustees.
• Must be a self-motivated, creative and innovative professional with the ability to solve problems with creativity and diplomacy.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects in a team-oriented environment, while maintaining attention to details.
• Travel and working nights and weekends as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• A Bachelor's Degree, Masters is preferred. Experience in a seminary, theological institution or faith-based organization preferred. Additional education may substitute for experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability.
• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a fundraising capacity with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with various constituent communities. Other relevant experience will be considered. Experience in event planning and project management required.
• Must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License, have a driving record that meets the requirements of an eligible CTS driver, and be able to travel to meet with a wide variety of university constituents. Evening and weekend hours are required and over-night travel is expected.
