The Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Communications is principally responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Annual Giving multi-channel communications and projects for internal and external constituencies. Actively manages fundraising and engagement campaigns that increase donor participation and annual donations through audience segmentation, compelling messaging and innovative multi-channel outreach. Serves as the technical expert, analytics point person and project manager for Annual Giving communications (print mail, email, digital campaigns, texting). Evaluates campaign performance and donor trends, recommends appeal strategies and implements all facets of the Annual Giving solicitation plan. Manages the Annual Giving solicitations operation to ensure data integrity, intelligent segmentation strategy, and timely completion of projects to drive maximize engagement and fundraising results. This position requires excellent skills in the areas of both written and oral communication, data analysis and project management.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Annual Giving communications:
o Assist in the design and implementation of a comprehensive and integrated communications and solicitation program that incorporates direct mail, e-mail, social media, phone calls, texts, and personal asks.
o With input from all Annual Giving staff, draft the overall message of approximately four annual giving direct mail solicitations, as well as coordinate the mailing effort.
o Manage a fully coordinated solicitation calendar for Annual Giving that includes the incorporation of all constituent segmentation strategies to increase both percentage and level of giving participation. Included will be all renewal and acquisition campaigns.
o Oversee and maintain the Annual Giving website and the pages for programs of Annual Giving, including Day of Giving and the University donation form.
o Oversee and maintain social media accounts related to Annual Giving programs, such as Student Alumni Board.
o Serve as the liaison between the Annual Giving & Development offices and the Office of University Communications, the University Mail Center, and any outside direct mail vendors.
• Annual Giving data:
o Working with Development Services, create solicitation lists.
o Maintain tracking and testing methods for all Annual Giving solicitation initiatives.
o Maintain a consistent and reliable data analysis of annual giving progress detailing results against constituency, channel, and programmatic criteria.
o Prepare and distribute reports tracking and interpreting results against the full set of goals incorporated in the annual giving dashboards to Director of Annual Giving.
• DAE communications:
o Working with DAE communications colleagues and the University Communications staff, assist in the message and design of projects from the Development office, as well as other DAE offices as needed.
o In coordination with DAE communications colleagues, assist in division-wide communications efforts in print and online to improve messaging to alumni.
o Assist in writing features and other articles for the alumni magazine and e-news.
• Tiger Club communications:
o In collaboration with the Annual Giving Athletics liaison, manage a solicitation calendar for athletics fundraising in coordination with the Annual Giving solicitations.
o Draft the overall message of approximately two Tiger Club direct mail solicitation, as well as coordinate related efforts.
o Work with Annual Giving liaison and Athletics staff to utilize Tiger Club Board volunteers for solicitations.
• Other responsibilities:
o Participate in the collaborative process of the strategic planning for the overall Annual Giving operating plan.
o Attend and staff several key on-campus events annually, including Old Gold Weekend, Alumni Reunion Weekend.
o Demonstrate a willingness to take on new challenges and opportunities as they arise, or are assigned.
o Attend at least one professional development conference per year.
o Exhibit the highest principals of ethical standards and team work.
o Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
Minimum of three years current and relevant experience required.
Computer Skills: Excellent skills in Microsoft Office products (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Adobe design products is required. A working knowledge of donor databases and a variety of social media is necessary. Ability and desire to frequently learn new products related to the role is required.
Certificates & Licenses:
Valid Indiana driver's license required.
• A strong understanding of the mission of liberal arts institutions is necessary.
• Experience in development and higher education is desired.
• Qualified candidates will possess clear and persuasive written and oral communication skills, and the ability to motivate and build relationships with alumni and parent volunteers.
