Reporting to the SVP & Chief Advancement Officer, the Development Director is responsible for managing donor cultivation and community engagement projects to contribute to fundraising revenue goals. This position is part of the Advancement and Marketing team which also includes Starfish Initiative (SI) President & CEO.  The candidate should be a detail-oriented, high energy and resourceful individual who is eager to support the organization's board-approved growth strategy to double our impact by 2022 (2x by 22!).  We seek a team player who is committed to supporting the resource growth required to serve a client base of 850 teen Scholars and 850 Mentors by September 2022.

Qualifications include:
A 4-year degree plus 1-3 years related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required. A certificate or graduate degree in philanthropic studies is preferred. The successful candidate must have knowledge of general office procedures and skill in using technology for word processing, spreadsheet preparation, database management, and data entry. Knowledge of automated systems, databases, and reports appropriate to maintaining gift and other administrative records is essential.  Experience with Bloomerang is a plus. Ability to handle and honor confidential information and materials is required. Ability to work professionally and effectively with people from various backgrounds and economic levels.

Responsibilities will include:
Provide consistent and effective support to the SI President and SVP & Chief Advancement Officer to cultivate a portfolio of new and recurring donors in the amount of $500,000 annually. 

● Foundations
 ○ Maintain grant submission and reports database
 ○ Shepherd the grant submission and reporting process
 ○ Participate in and take notes in monthly grants meetings
 ○ Conduct research on new possible funding sources
● Individual (Mass and HNWI)
 ○ Work with the SVP to cultivate individual donors
● Corporations
 ○ Work with the SVP and President to maintain Corporate Ally agreements
 ○ Maintain database of active Corporate Allies and prospects
 ○ Research to build prioritized outreach targets
● Special Events
 ○ Assist in the coordination and planning of all Advancement & Marketing events.
● Support general development operations
 ○ Provide frontline assistance to internal and external groups, including answering inquiries, responding to requests, scheduling meetings, processing paperwork, and ensuring a professional office environment
 ○ Ensure that any Advancement information detailed in the President's and VSr. VP's prospect meetings are entered in Bloomerang and Donor Files.
Ensure timely completion of correspondence, mailings, photocopying, maintain files (both electronic and paper), data entry and minute-taking.
Complete donor action reports in Bloomerang for any impactful discussions that may happen during the course of business.
Maintain strict confidentiality of donor and prospect files.

● Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a not-for-profit or similar mission-driven organization
● Excellent organizational and communication skills with high attention to detail
● Can-do attitude and ability to think creatively
● Capability to write professionally and edit to presentation-ready quality
● Ability to prioritize work, manage time and multitask appropriately
● Ability to function autonomously and collaboratively
● Experience in Bloomerang (or similar donor management database), G-Suites and other software.
