The Development and Communications Director is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, corporations, and foundations.  This individual will also be responsible for development and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy through social media, newsletters, events and the company website.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Development Responsibilities
• Oversee and direct the Development and Communications programs.
• Identify, establish and maintain ongoing professional relationships with gift prospects, corporations, donors, and benefactors including churches, service clubs, and local media.
• Research and identify new funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government and individual sources.
• Maintain and update an accessible contact database including donor list, special events, etc.
• Maintain and expand relationships with local media sources including developing and sending press releases as needed with assistance from Administrative Coordinator.
• Prepare and present development presentations as needed.
• Provide awareness of development efforts including upcoming events to staff.
• Direct and implement successful fundraising events each year.
• Direct, implement, and monitor the Giving Tuesday campaign and the Annual Appeal (letter of request) campaign, including cultivation, requests, acknowledgement and follow-up.
• Oversee the completion and dissemination of a quarterly newsletter.
• Oversee the completion and dissemination of the agency annual report.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining a social media strategy for the agency
• Attend and participate in networking events.
Sr. Management Responsibilities
• Serve as a member of the Senior Management team which requires the highest level of decision making responsibilities and confidentiality.
• Direct activities and provide supervision to: Administrative Coordinator and Development Consultant.
• Responsible for advising the President/CEO regarding Development and Communications related issues.
• Responsible for assigned agency Board of Directors Meetings and Committees..
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree or other related degree from a four-year college or university.

Three to five (3-5) Years in Non-profit Development/Communications preferred.

Proven demonstration of high ethical standards and the ability to provide guidance to the head of the organization and the Board.

Capital Campaign experience preferred.

Experience using Bloomerang or other donor software a plus.
