Reports to: Head of School

Position Description
The Director of Advancement oversees all aspects of the Midwest Academy development and communications program including all fundraising, marketing, PR, and special event activities. 

Organization Overview:
Midwest Academy is an intentional educational community serving students in grades 3-12 with ADD/ADHD, language based learning differences, high functioning autism, and processing challenges. The school is designed to develop academic achievement, self-acceptance, and personal accountability.

Responsibilities:

Development
1. Plan and execute an annual fundraising plan that cultivates and stewards relationships;
solicits gifts; and engages volunteers in institutional advancement processes.  Giving vehicles utilized include:
• Annual campaign gifts
• Major Gifts
• Grant Requests
• Special events, primarily annual gala
• Capital Campaign
2. Lead implementation of major fundraising event - annual gala
3. Make personal solicitation visits, schedule volunteers with prospective donors, and
support the Head of School and Board members with visits
4. Develop and maintain a donor database and provide regular reports to the Head of School
and Board
5. Maintain best practices in all areas of development, marketing, public relations
6. Further develop the fundraising culture within the school
7. Develop endowment
8. Develop and oversee donor and constituent stewardship plan
9. Identify and assist with development of additional revenue opportunities
10. Motivate and coordinate volunteer groups to assist in fundraising
11. Seek and cultivate partnerships with pertinent institutions
12. Create and share a Midwest Academy development handbook of policies and procedures
13. Cultivate alumni giving
14. Other duties as assigned

Marketing and Communications:
Plan, implement and evaluate marketing and communications program with marketing and development coordinator

Administrative:
1. Liaison to Development Committee
2. Staff Liaison to parent volunteer committees
3. Conduct fundraising training with Board and Staff as required
4. Manage volunteers and support staff
5. Participate in Board meetings as required
6. Help advance the mission of Midwest Academy
7. Pursue professional development to further skills

Position Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience in fundraising required - five plus preferred.
CFRM preferred, not required.
