NeighborLink Indianapolis is a private nonprofit organization that provides free home repairs and related services to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities within Marion county, Indiana. We have one mission--to allow seniors in need to stay in their own homes safely and with dignity.

Much of the home repair is completed by volunteer groups (great for church, colleges, organizations, businesses, team building, etc.) with experiences tailored to fit projects. The Volunteer Coordinator is a crucial role for the success of our organization.
This is a part time position with the potential to move to full time.
● Act as a liaison between the Volunteers, Programs, and Development Department
● Oversees all activities related to volunteer recruitment and conducts volunteer screening.
● Coordinate volunteer on-boarding, ongoing education, and support meetings.
● Outreach to recruit new Volunteers
● Administrative tasks related to record keeping of volunteers
● Develop policies and processes for the volunteer experience
● Retention of volunteers - work to get feedback and help provide a sense of community
● Staff a Volunteer Council to continuously improve the volunteer experience
● Work with the Program Manager and Development Director to create volunteer plan for the organization which will include the development of goals, measurable objectives, strategies to be utilized, timeline, identification of the financial and human resources needs, the activities to be undertaken, evaluation of outcome and outputs of the volunteer program.
● Ensure proper background checks/screening are preformed according to State and Federal laws and NeighborLink Indianapolis policies.
● Bachelor's degree
● Have experience volunteering for a nonprofit
● Minimum of one-year experience recruiting or managing volunteers
● Demonstrated ability to train others.
● Caring and understanding of seniors, individuals with disabilities and persons coping with the effects of poverty.
● Demonstrated management skills and problem resolution.
● Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate in English orally, in writing, and in reading.
● Local travel required, valid Indiana driver's license, auto insurance and use of personal vehicle.
● Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job.
● Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
● Good records keeping skills and attention to detail.
● Computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office and similar
● Strong initiative and ability to work independently and cooperatively.
● Familiarity with social services resources is a plus.
● Experience working with fundraising and volunteer management software is a plus.
● Knowledge and understanding of the issues of aging and the concept of aging in place is a plus
● Flexibility and telecommuting.
● Enough freedom to spread your wings while still holding you accountable.
