KDP provides programs, services, and resources to its members, which include undergraduate and graduate students, practicing teachers, administrators, university faculty, and retirees.

The Senior Staff Assistant will create the first impression of KDP for members and guests both on the phone and in person. This position performs a wide variety of administrative duties supporting the daily functions of the organization and assisting with special departmental projects within Kappa Delta Pi Headquarters. The Senior Staff Assistant position requires proficiency in a full range of administrative and technical skills. The work of this position is performed with considerable independence, requiring the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize diverse duties. As the first point of contact with the organization for many members, the Senior Staff Assistant must be able to reflect the values and culture of KDP and provide outstanding customer service.

The Senior Staff Assistant reports to the Event and Executive Coordinator.

Executive Director Support
• Handles administrative tasks for Executive Director, including travel coordination, online research, and spreadsheet creation
• Oversees biennial production of Society Handbook
• Makes travel arrangements and assists in material preparation for Executive Council meetings
• Assists with Executive Council projects
• Supports organizational database needs, including maintaining Executive Officer and Committee master lists and pulling reports
• Serves on the employee appreciation committee

Office Coordination and Departmental Support
• Serves as the organization's receptionist and staff lead in the knowledge and usage of the phone system
• Receives and distributes mail, records incoming payments, and prepares paperwork for business departments daily
• Assist in programmatic support that includes coordinating member outreach and involvement
• Manages the membership mailbox, including responding or routing to the appropriate departments and providing outreach for membership renewals
• Manages bulk mailings by various departments
• Updates and verifies information in membership database. Pulls information and runs reports as requested by staff. Updates bounce-back emails from outgoing membership messages
• Assists with updating and managing information in the database for use by other departments
• Assists with scheduling and organizing of activities related to meetings both within the office and offsite, as well as travel and department activities
• Assists with hosting guests and visitors to Headquarters and room rentals

The ideal candidate will have:
• A love for customer service!
• Ability to respond to and handle member, leader, and business inquiries and requests with poise, tact, and diplomacy
• Excellent computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office software suite and familiarity with databases
• Excellent organizational skills and be extremely detail oriented, precise, and able to work independently and manage/prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Experience with a nonprofit organization, ideally
• Excellent customer service skills with an attitude of being positive, winning, energetic, driven, and goal oriented
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a 
positive working environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive reactions to change

Bachelor's degree with 5 years or more of related experience
