Raising Indianapolis Schools to Excellence (RISE INDY)'s mission is to ensure that all children can access excellent public schools that prepare every student for graduation and beyond. We engage communities, educate policymakers, and organize citizens to improve student outcomes in public education. Over the next five years, RISE INDY will expand its organization, define a comprehensive platform of crucial improvements to the public education system, and develop a statewide strategy to support candidates and elected officials dedicated to closing the achievement gap in Indiana schools.

The Development Director will be responsible for all RISE INDY's fundraising activities. The Director will raise money for RISE's charitable, social welfare, and political branches, building a network of donors to sustain the organization's year-round operations and election cycle funding. The position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and will have a focus on developing a grassroots local donor network.

Responsibilities will include:
● Develop and grow all donor programs with demonstrable and documented goals and results
 o Work with the Board of Directors' Treasurer and RISE VP of Operations on fundraising targets and strategies
 o Write and execute a comprehensive development plan
● Research donors current and prospective and identify opportunities to build relationships
 o Schedule and hold one-on-one solicitation meetings with current and prospective donors 
 o Schedule and manage call time with the CEO, Board Members, and others as necessary
 o Manage high-level donor relationships alongside the CEO
● Plan and execute fundraising events and programs
 o Collaborate with the CEO and Project Assistant to schedule fundraisers throughout the year
 o Organize receptions, dinners, low-dollar events, and an annual gala
 o Formulate a membership program
▪ Arrange a recurring event that members will attend
▪ Ensure members receive all promised materials and incentives
 o Engage outside vendors as necessary
● Work with Communications staff to draft fundraising and event communications, including invitations, direct mail, solicitation emails, and social media posts
 o Collaborate with RISE program staff when appropriate on target messaging for fundraising
● Maintain a database of accurate, detailed, and carefully maintained donor records
 o Track and report monthly, quarterly, and yearly progress toward program goals
 o Work with VP of Operations to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws

● 3+ years fundraising experience, preferably:
 o 2+ years non-profit fundraising experience
 o 2+ cycles of campaign experience with political fundraising
 o Familiarity with EveryAction or NGP fundraising software
● Involvement in education/policy, especially public K-12 schools
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
● Outgoing personality, positive and energetic disposition, and mission-focused mindset
 o Appreciation for diversity and inclusion
 o Desire to understand motivations and barriers
 o Ability to problem solve and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include public speaking
● Discretion when working with sensitive financial information
● Availability to work after hours and weekends as needed
● Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Communications, or Non-profit Management
