Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an environmental and community nonprofit with a mission to help people and nature thrive. We partner with neighborhoods, local government, universities, community groups, and businesses to achieve our vision of an Indianapolis that is loved, cared for, and ecologically rich. We are also one of the most volunteered-for organizations in Indianapolis, working with about 20,000 volunteers each year to plant trees and native landscapes, organize litter cleanups, turn vacant lots into pocket parks, create outdoor classrooms, restore habitat, and educate and employ youth.

Position Purpose:
As Neighborhood Engagement Program Manager you will work closely with the Director of the CE Department to develop a strategy for outreach, with a focus on external facing efforts within and beyond KIB programming. You will respond to the needs and goals of individuals and neighborhood groups, as well as ensure KIB's programmatic goals are met. You will manage KIB's new two-year initiative, with support from the CE and Stewardship teams, to further access to art in low-income, majority minority neighborhoods, including management of a contracted engagement staff person.  
 
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:  
• KIB Programmatic Responsibilities
 o Lead engagement and support implementation processes at GreenSpace projects each year. 
 o Provide support for engagement at CEG Basin outreach.
 o Work with neighborhoods identified through the Forestry strategic focus to develop a canopy plan and support efforts to implement.
 o Assist with Education and Volunteer outreach goals
• Art and Seek Responsibilities
 o Manage one contracted staff person to implement the program.
 o Provide support to the Contracted staff person to reach out and coordinate with neighborhoods and local artists for the implementation of six large installations and 100 interventions.
 o Maintain relationship with Arts Council of Indianapolis throughout the project.
• Neighborhood Outreach
 o Meet with one neighborhood each month to ensure KIB's consistent connection to the community, this to also include Great Places 2020 neighborhoods.
 o Meet with at least one neighborhood for an entire year to listen to their challenges and seek ways to utilize KIB's resources/connections to further their goals.
• Metrics Tracking
 o Work with Director to develop and implement a system to track progress made within CE department, in relationship to the KIB Strategic Plan and Long-term Impacts.
• Respond and assist to any additional duties as asked by the CE Director or VP of Program Strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Understand that diversity, equity and inclusion are integral parts of effectively executing our work, this position will require ease and familiarity with connecting and relating to people of color and different backgrounds
• Valid driver's license and is comfortable driving a truck and trailer, or willing to learn
• Able to positively represent KIB's values
• Exhibit KIB's Cultural Values of Teamwork, Responsibility, Excellence, Openness, Balance, and Joy
• Bi-lingual proficiency skills in Spanish a plus
 
Characteristics of a Strong Candidate:
• Highly organized, self-motivated and able identify how strategic goals shape and develop engagement goals
• Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• A natural ease in new situations, and able to recall names and personal facts 
• Flexibility in both work schedule and project implementation
 
Education and/or equivalent experience:
• 2 years of community engagement experience and Bachelor's degree; (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
