The Urban Family Engagement Coach will provide intensive case management and coaching services to families enrolled in the IUL Urban Family Engagement Program.  Assists with identifying and recruiting suitable and eligible parents, their children (under the age of 18), and families from the New Beginnings and Project Ready Programs, and assists with the whole family's economic and educational future.  Will provide intense wrap around services to address postsecondary education and employment pathways, job skills training, peer and family counseling, general health and mental health services for the parents and children, and access to high-quality education programs and educational support for children, while keeping the entire family in mind for additional services and support.  

The Urban Family Engagement Coach will assist parents with developing an Individualized Professional Plan (IPP) to identify and address employment barriers, and a Family Success Plan (FSP) outlining the needs and status of the family, parenting, home and financial areas, in addition to tracking the services, goals and outcomes of the parent, child(ren), and families.  The Family Engagement Coach will also conduct monthly educational activities for enrolled parents, child(ren) and families to ensure a sufficient level of engagement. 

The Urban Family Engagement Coach will also conduct home and school visits as needed to ensure active engagement of enrolled families, and provide supportive services as needed.  Will develop partnerships with local programs and agencies to improve the parent's economic success and stability, and children's educational success, and assist with securing additional services geared towards addressing the needs of the entire family. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
o Communicates with public via email and/or telephone about Urban Family Engagement Program;
o Identifies eligible families through IUL New Beginnings and Project Ready Programs;
o Provides case management and coaching of suitable and eligible Urban Family Engagement Program participants;
o Assists participants with developing short and long-term goals, and updating Individual Professional Plans (IPP) monthly;
o Assists participants with developing a Family Success Plan (FSP) and updating familial achievements monthly;
o Enters all Urban Family Engagement Program enrollments into ETO database;
o Works closely with Income and Support Coach to identify additional barriers and makes appropriate referrals;
o Works closely with Financial Coach to confirm participants completion of budget, access to credit reports, and additional financial literacy activities;
o Works closely with IUL Training Works Coordinator to confirm training enrollment, completion and credential attainment; 
o Works closely with Career Coaches to confirm employment opportunities, job placement, and resume completion; 
o Works closely with Project Ready Site Coordinators to identify eligible students at Project Ready High Schools;
o Conducts home visits and school visits as needed;
o Conducts employment site visits to provide program participant with retention services;
o Conducts monthly workshops for enrolled families providing various programming for the parent, and educational activities for children, including tutoring services;
o Develops partnership with community partners to leverage resources and services;
o Assists with monthly facilitation of New Beginnings Program;
o Attend workshops, seminars  or conferences annually to further enhance skills, knowledge and capacity as a Workforce Development Professional; and
o Carry out other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) preferred from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Knowledge of Spanish desirable but not required.
 
READING/COMPREHENSION SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group and large group situations to customers and clients.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
