Position Purpose:    
The Stewardship Manager is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive donor relations stewardship program that recognizes and promotes engagement with donors giving $500 up to $2,000. The Stewardship Manager is a forward-thinking, energetic professional with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of orchestrating an annual stewardship plan. In today's philanthropic environment, the Stewardship Manager is counted upon to identify opportunities to communicate with donors whose giving patterns may vary. The Stewardship Manager identifies potential major and planned giving donors and collaborates with the Director of Donor Engagement. The Stewardship Manager will execute personal phone calls, e-mails, letters, events and impact reports to ensure meaningful, timely donor acknowledgement and updates on how individual gifts impact hunger relief and the mission of Gleaners Food Bank.

Essential Functions:
• Create and implement an annual stewardship plan for mid-level (including new) donors. 
• Determine best way to formally honor and recognize donor giving on an annual basis.  
• Create content and communications to build engagement and relationships with new, loyal and mid-level donors via stewardship phone calls, emails, follow-up mailings, personal visits, tours and special events.
• Utilize metrics, data and analytics to drive segmented messaging, personal touches and tailored impact reports.
• As part of annual plan, engage CEO and Board of Directors in outreach. 
• Adopt customer service approach so constituents find it easy to speak directly with advancement staff.  
• Actively manage assigned portfolio of mid-level donors resulting in retention of donors while potentially increasing their philanthropy through stewardship and cultivation actions.
• Qualify mid-level donors as major donor and planned giving prospects by executing donor research through utilization of I-Wave and other tools in coordination with Donor Services & Database Manager.  Communicate viable prospects to Director of Donor Engagement to develop a strategy plan.
• Develop customized stewardship plans and execute follow-up actions that are tailored to donors based on research and insights from donor interactions.
• Collaborate with advancement colleagues for annual stewardship events and activities to enhance long-term donor relationships which undergird retention and giving. Communicate information and results to donors to inform how their philanthropy impacts Gleaners and our constituents.
• Participate in forecasting for fundraising success in preparation for Gleaners' annual budget.   This forecasting exercise include review of portfolio to ascertain probabilities of donor retention, lapses, increases and prospects.  
• Embrace and embody the mission, values and goals of Gleaners by articulating our case statement.    
• Collaborate with the communications staff for direct mail, social media, gift acknowledgement and other donor communications.
• Collaborate with volunteer managers to create donor volunteer engagement opportunities.
• Capitalize on opportunities for advancement by sharing prospects with colleagues in corporate, foundation and social media fundraising.  
• Participate in professional development opportunities annually.
• Represent Gleaners at events as needed. 
• Execute other duties as assigned.

Personnel Management
• May be required (in the future) to provide leadership to Interns assisting with donor stewardship.

• Contribute to the development of the fundraising budget and goals.
• Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures, including submitting expense reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, invoices, etc. in a timely fashion or by deadlines assigned.
• Plan, track, and report on individual and departmental work in support of organizational coordination and synergy.
• Ensure appropriate staff informed of events and logistics/needs for the organizational calendar. 
• Keep outlook calendar updated to provide transparency on weekly activities and tasks, to promote productive time management and to aid in collaborative engagement with advancement staff. 
• Participate actively in staff meetings, retreats and Board meetings when requested.
• Contribute ideas and content for communications and marketing materials, especially as related to support from individuals outlined in Manager's area of purview. 
• Ensure quality communications and reports follow gifts received from portfolio responsibility to provide stewardship to donors.

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully.

• Valid Driver's License/clean driving record. 
• Must be insurable by GFB company vehicle insurance provider.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree with two years related fundraising/customer service experience; or equivalent education/experience.
• One to two years' experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems preferred (Blackbaud/eTapestry experience a plus), with ability to create, analyze, and present reports.
• Familiarity with financial reporting.

Language Skills:
• Exhibit effective interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Ability to prepare, write, edit, and proof documents.
• Ability to professionally communicate with audiences (donors, corporate contacts, staff, board, etc.).

Mathematical/Reasoning Skills:
• Basic mathematical, strong analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to think strategically and analytically.
Technical/Computer Skills:
• Experience working in donor database systems (experience with eTapestry or other large donor database system is preferred). 
• Computer literate in all basic computer programs and functions.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Ability to work on a computer, copier, fax machine, telephone, and calculator.
