About the Organization
Charitable Allies is a legal aid law firm for nonprofit organizations. We assist nonprofits across the country to get started and operate well. We also regularly litigate on their behalf. We're organized and operated as a "low bono" 501(c)(3) legal aid law firm for nonprofits, which basically means we're a law firm for small businesses that happen to be nonprofits!

About the Position
Working both from our office in Indianapolis, IN (3 days a week) and remotely (2 days a week), the Marketing and Communications Specialist will be a split role initially, with about 50% of the individual's time spent on the general communication and marketing efforts of the organization. This position will also spend approximately 35% of the time responsible for client intake and 15% responsible for general office duties. We anticipate this role to quickly change into a pure Marketing and Communications Specialist role within a year or so, as our growth has been significant, even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Responsibilities of the Position

50% – Marketing and Communications
• Oversee all communications and marketing efforts of the organization.
• Envision, develop, implement and manage communications and marketing initiatives and strategies around new programming (a/k/a business or service) lines
• Help grow our social media presence by implementing strategies and tactics that grow our list of followers, engage and retain them, and help convert them into leads, clients, and active promoters of our organization.
• Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our organization and/or the sector.
• Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to spread both our brand and our content.
• Maintain public-facing profiles in, Super Lawyers and more.
• Grow our blog/newsletter subscriber list by providing them with regular, helpful content that is relevant to current events and trends.
• Basic- to moderate-level website updates and page additions.
• Grow new leads by converting website traffic through calls-to-action, landing pages, and lead generation content.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to draft and send press releases, when necessary.
• Work with various vendors to expand and improve marketing efforts for the firm.
• Additional duties as assigned.

35% – Client Intake
• Greeting clients and vendors that physically come to our office.
• Managing website chat feature.
• Responding to web form fill, email and similar client leads.
• Answering phones and promptly routing, returning calls and/or relaying messages.
• Entering data into the online client intake system.
• Entering donor data into the fundraising management software.
• Scheduling potential client calls (initial consultations) for the attorneys.
• Additional duties as assigned.

15% – General Office Administration and Legal Assistingï‚·
• Scheduling current client calls for the attorneys.
• Coordinating attorney and fundraising travel.
• Preparing litigation and fundraising materials for hearings and meetings, respectively.
• Working individually and within a team to accomplish projects and tasks.
• Assist Leadership Team with a wide variety of daily responsibilities.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• 1-2 years of experience in the communications and marketing field
• Preference/desire to work within a well-run, high-performing organization is essential
• Familiarity with WordPress, Flywheel, MailChimp (or similar), CRM software, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
• Proficiency with Google G Suite for Nonprofits
• The ability to truly master our several web-based applications (i.e. Clio Grow, Clio Manage, Dropbox,, Branded BridgeLine, etc.) is essential
Proficiency in using social media administrative software, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and high-level attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and a self-started
• High degree of flexibility
• Positive and "can do" attitude
• Effective organization and time management skills

• BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, or related field preferred
• Willing to accept five (5) years of highly-relevant communications or marketing experience in lieu of a degree
