Foundation Mission Statement
The Foundation is a catalyst for igniting action that improves the quality of life in Shelby County. Through collaborative work involving community partners and donors, BRCF connects resources with impactful projects and programs that make Shelby County a great place.

Position Description
The Executive Director of the Foundation will provide leadership to the board of directors and staff members to accomplish the objectives of the Foundation. The executive director is the primary person responsible for donor engagement and development. Major responsibilities for the position include building long-lasting, meaningful and effective partnerships with other community leaders; continuing to grow the Foundation's permanent assets; serving as the representative of the Foundation in the community; providing oversight for staff, programs, invested assets and assuming fiscal and legal responsibility for Foundation operations.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following traits and experience:
• Deeply held belief that philanthropy is critical to the overall well-being of the community, through investments in Arts and Culture, Health, Education, Civic endeavors (such as public spaces), and social services
• Experience with donor-centered fundraising and relationships (or relationship-based sales)
• Experience in non-profit management (or small business/office operations)
• Experience in project management and community development
• Comfort and confidence with public speaking
• Understanding of investments, the financial markets, and the concept of endowments
• The ability to relate to all people, regardless of demographics

• Famiilarity with the Shelbyville, Shelby County community. Ideally a current or future resident.
• Bachelors degree
• Five years of experience managing three or more staff
• Proven effective oral and clear written communication skills
• Proven self-starter
• Proven ability to gain and utilize knowledge of available resources in previous position(s)
