The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc. is currently recruiting individuals for our 2020-2021 AmeriCorps program to increase the capacity of public health workers in Central Indiana, to address an end to the HIV Epidemic and other health related programming. AmeriCorps members will be placed at a host agency where they will be supporting local efforts to respond, prevent, and treat supporting people living with HIV and other related health conditions. A special emphasis will be placed on reducing health disparities in communities served. Members will gain professional public health experience while helping fill an unmet need in Central Indiana.  Candidates may have an interest in Medicine, Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Harm Reduction, etc. People with lived experience including HIV, Hepatitis C, previous substance use, and/or belonging to an underserved community (LGBTQ+, Black/African-American, and LatinX) are encouraged to apply. High School Diploma and/or equivalent is required to apply.

Those eligible to participate in The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc. AmeriCorps Program will meet the following criteria: they must be at least 17 years of age at the beginning of the program year; they must be a United States citizen or a permanent legal resident; they must have a high school diploma or GED; they must be available to begin service in mid-August 2020; and they must complete the requisite application materials as defined below.  Please note that the selection committee for THFGI is committed to providing equal opportunity for all applicants, regardless of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, HIV status, nation origin, veteran status, disability, creed, age, gender identity or expression, or other protected by law. Duties and responsibilities: The AmeriCorps Member will:
1. Serve four days out of the week at a host agency addressing an unmet need.
2. Participate within a team of ten members through training, team-building, and service projects.
3. Members will serve in a full-time capacity for a one-year term (1700 service hours), starting August 17, 2020, to be completed by July 31, 2021. 
4. Carryout service to the community in an equitable, inclusive manner.
5. Actively participate in trainings and professional development opportunities.

Compensation: To support their service, each member receives a modest living stipend for the year (about $14,500), health benefits, childcare benefits, and forbearance of student loans. Members completing a full-term of service are also eligible to receive approximately a $6,000 AmeriCorps Education Award toward paying off student loans or college tuition.
