The 500 Festival Foundation is a fully-charitable 501(c)3 organization dedicated to generating funds in support of the 500 Festival's mission to produce life-enriching events and programs, fostering a positive impact on the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana. The Foundation has a specific interest in the advancement of the 500 Festival's youth programs and initiatives. From college scholarships for Indiana's brightest college leaders to a free curriculum for our state's 4th grade classrooms to a free program designed to combat childhood obesity and teach kids the importance of leading a healthy, active lifestyle – the 500 Festival Foundation's investments help enhance the lives of Indiana's youth and provide a calendar of community activities that invite the participation of all Hoosiers and showcase Indianapolis on a global stage.

This position reports directly to the 500 Festival President & CEO and will serve as the primary administrator of the 500 Festival Foundation including oversight of the following: Board of Directors participation, board meeting preparation, development planning & implementation, donor relations, major gifts, annual giving, fundraising, committee meeting preparation, foundation-specific events, coordination of impending capital campaign, marketing & promoting the foundation, coordinating activities with the 500 Festival and collaborating with 500 Festival staff & resources.  This position has a targeted start date of early October 2020.

Job duties include:
• Collaborates with the 500 Festival CEO, SVP of Administration and Foundation Board of Directors to develop strategy for annual fundraising & development plans & goals.
• Writes, coordinates and executes donor asks across multiple platforms, including direct mail, digital, social media, and peer-to-peer.
• Develops annual calendar of fund raising strategies, updates, reports, and stewardship that coordinates with marketing and strategic partnership teams. 
• Writes content and works with marketing team to develop and maintain database of compelling impact stories for use in fundraising & grant writing.
• Oversees fundraising initiatives by identifying and recruiting volunteer leaders, creating the necessary structures for support along with training them to deliver messages that are compelling, accurate, and personalized. 
• Manages follow-up efforts with annual fund donors and event participants for fundraising cultivation. 
• Reports regularly on annual fund giving and donor status; maintains dashboards to assess areas of potential need. 
• Identifies and builds a portfolio of donors for personal cultivation.
• Collaborate with 500 Festival staff and board for ideas, promotions and tactics to support the Foundation

Capital Campaign Research & Support 
• Recommend data points and benchmarks from which to evaluate the growth of fundraising appeals, donor constituencies, and donor relationship growth ("moves") over time. 
• Researches donor interests, involvement, and relationships within and outside organization to inform committees and solicitors of possible strategies. 
• Prepares reports for major gift prospects for CEO, SVP of Administration and other solicitors in preparation for meetings. 

Additional Functions 
• Assess and recommend viable fundraising events and work with 500 Festival team to execute.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:
• Minimum 3+ years' experience in Development, Capital Campaign, Annual Fund or Major Gifts acquisition. 
• Formal education and/or professional development in philanthropy, nonprofit management and/or fundraising  preferred. 
• Interest in or experience with major gift fundraising preferred. 
• Successful peer-to-peer fundraising experience required. 
• Knowledge and execution of Donor Relations best practices, policies & processes. 
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail. 
• Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience. 
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to create personal relationships and to communicate effectively, delivering exceptional customer service to a diverse variety of stakeholders (i.e. donors, sponsors, and volunteers), both verbally and in writing. 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, early mornings and weekends as needed during event season.
• Working knowledge of donor management software and systems
