The Volunteer Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Volunteer program, including recruitment, training and scheduling of individual and group volunteers. The Volunteer Manager will communicate interdepartmentally to identify new volunteer opportunities and execute volunteer projects accordingly. The Volunteer Manager works closely with the donor relations department to coordinate special visitor groups, support special events, and assist with other projects as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Maintain and grow volunteer base through outreach to individuals, community-based organizations and groups, colleges/universities, and corporations as needed.
• Work closely with all program and department managers to periodically assess needs for volunteer expertise and level of volunteer staffing.
• Review volunteer applications and place volunteers as seen fit in roles amongst the organization.
• Plan and execute Damien 101 training sessions and ensure that all volunteer documents and commitment forms are up to date.
• Work closely with all program and department managers to ensure that volunteer positions are sufficiently filled to meet the needs of the Damien Center and that volunteers have a positive experience.
• Maintain upcoming volunteer scheduling on the website, TimeCounts, and all other volunteering sites.
• Maintain volunteer database.
• Provide accurate and timely volunteer data for funder and volunteer-requested reports
• Engage with existing volunteers and provide feedback and additional guidance as needed.
• Maintain ongoing communications with volunteers through email news blasts, newsletters and print materials.
• Plan and execute volunteer appreciation and training activities.
• Develop and administer annual volunteer satisfaction survey; compile and report results to Chief Donor Relations Officer.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degrees or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years' experience in volunteer management, management, or event planning, and/or work in the HIV/AIDS or related field preferred
• Working knowledge of best practices in volunteer coordination.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Computer literacy required
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong leadership
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Superior time management and able to prioritize work tasks
• Able to problem solve and employ abstract reasoning skills
• Maintain a positive attitude
• Take initiative and be self-motivated
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to work specific evenings and weekends as needed
• Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
• Believe in the worth and dignity of others
