Organization Description:
Indiana Town Halls (ITH) is a start-up organization whose mission is to empower citizen engagement in elections and policymaking and strengthen the frayed bond between citizens and politicians through moderated, civil two-way listening and learning forums. Having produced three 5th district 2020 congressional primary candidate Town Hall webcasts in partnership with WFYI and Informing to Empower Democracy, Indiana Town Halls aims to establish a statewide infrastructure for making Town Halls a regular feature of both election and policy-making interactions between citizens, elected officials, and candidates. Our focus for the Fall will be a virtual Town Hall for the 5th district general election. For 2021, we will transition to bi-partisan governing Town Halls in at least two districts. Jim Shella sums up what ITH is about: "Democracy is difficult and messy, but it should always be representative. We're trying to ensure that a) members of Congress understand who and what they are representing, and b) voters have an easy, professionally-moderated way to engage with candidates and members of Congress." 
 
Indiana Town Halls is led and staffed by a professional volunteer team of ten, including two state legislators, a veteran political reporter, two public media executives, two political science professors, a digital marketing consultant, a communications consultant, and a veteran project manager.
 
Responsibilities (2020): 
• Assist digital marketing consultant in redesign and maintenance of website.
• Manage event promotion and Facebook and Google analytics reporting.
• Work with IU-Northwest to gather and analyze viewer survey and on-line data.
• Create prospective donor and voter database, using Facebook and Google technology.
• Assist with transitioning the organization to a sustainable, tax-exempt entity.
• Work with candidates to promote Town Halls and disseminate evaluation results.

Qualifications
• Superior interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
• Record of leadership accomplishments in campus or community-based organizations
• Social media, website design, and graphics savvy
• Strong interest in and awareness of politics
• Software skills: Adobe Suite, Excel, html/css website design (preferred)
• Graduate degree in a related field, e.g. communications, journalism, political science, public affairs, or law; with a superior academic record. Applications for student internships also welcomed.
 
Terms
• 15 hours per week from August 15 through December 15 at $15 per hour
• Opportunity to apply for a part-time leadership position in 2021
