Do you aspire to be the visionary leader of a successful arts organization? Entering its 53rd season, the Anderson Symphony Orchestra (ASO)'a leading, regional professional orchestra'is seeking an Executive Director. The ASO is a cultural outlet in the region northeast of Indianapolis.

What makes this an exciting opportunity?
• ASO's five subscription concerts offer a balance of classical and pops repertoire, as well as an educational concert for youth and a range of outreach events. 
• Dr. Richard Sowers has led the ASO for 33 seasons as Music Director and Conductor.
• The Orchestra is comprised of professional musicians.

The ASO is governed by a 22-member Board of Directors and has an annual budget of about $300,000 with an endowment and designated reserve funds of $500,000. The ASO has three part-time employees' personnel manager, music librarian, stage manager'who report to the Executive Director in consultation with the Music Director. The Executive Director works closely with the Music Director to achieve the ASO's artistic vision.

Responsibilities
In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides vision, leadership, strategic direction, and management so the ASO can achieve its goals for programmatic excellence, audience development, and financial stability. The Executive Director is responsible for much of the ASO's administration and operations, including:
• Budgeting and financial management
• Strategic planning
• Fundraising and patron development
• Marketing and audience development
• Front-of-the-house concert production
• Facilities liaison (ASO office space, performance venues)
• Community engagement

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a highly effective communicator and strategic thinker with the ability to work independently to manage day-to-day operations and long-term vision with the support of the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will have experience in or knowledge of the following areas:
• Development
• Marketing
• Relationship building
• Grant writing
• Special-event planning

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in orchestra or performing arts management and working with creative artists. However, candidates without direct experience but who have strong community relationships and a love of the arts will also be considered. The successful candidate will combine a passion for music with knowledge of administration and operations. S/he will be a person of integrity and high ethical standards. S/he will be an effective communicator (in person and in writing) with the ability to meet pressing timelines. S/he will be a highly visible spokesperson and advocate for the ASO in the community.

A bachelor's degree is required. Desired skills include a knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Office, and various social media platforms.
