The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will develop and coordinate the execution of marketing strategies to increase awareness, engagement, and revenue goals for the agency. This position serves as the chief storyteller, social media manager, digital, video, and print content creator and publisher, website administrator, and point of the contact for local and state media outlets.
HVAF is working to end homelessness among veterans. Through a unique partnership with U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs and many community organizations, we provide housing and re-integration services for homeless veterans and programs to prevent at-risk veterans from becoming homeless.
Duties and Responsibilities
a. Responsible for agency's online presence including web content, blog, paid search and SEO, and social media strategy.
b. Seeks opportunities to increase online presence, and provides analytical reporting to VP, Advancement monthly or as requested.
c. Identifies opportunities to highlight success stories of veteran clients and conducts interviews, video stories, and blog posts to share those stories.
d. Develops content for and oversees the creation and distribution of email marketing including e-newsletters, special event promotions, and solicitations.
e. Designs print & digital marketing material including annual report, program brochures, event fliers, and other resources as requested.
f. Engages local and state media outlets to advocate on behalf of homeless veteran population and HVAF's impact in Central Indiana and agency contact for media inquiries.
g. Coordinates with funders, community partners, and staff to share information via social media, website, and marketing emails.
h. Creates and follows annual marketing calendar.
i. Assists with digital fundraising campaigns, special events, and represents HVAF at community events as needed.
a. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
b. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
c. Experience with coordination and preparation of project budgets.
d. Ability to think creatively and strategically.
e. Ability to manage a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment, responding quickly and professionally to competing priorities.
f. Strong project manager with attention to details in planning and execution.
g. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and set goals in a deadline-oriented environment.
h. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with donors, media, clients, and senior level staff.
a. Bachelor's degree in related field (marketing, communications, journalism, etc.)
b. Three or more years of marketing or communications experience, with strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in multichannel marketing.
c. Experience in social media management.
d. Experience in graphic design (InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe, etc).
e. Experience in WordPress.
f. Experience in video editing.
g. Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp, Constant Contact) preferred.
h. Military experience or personal military ties preferred.
