The CEO serves as the chief executive of the National FFA Organization and the National FFA Foundation. In partnership with the National FFA Board of Directors and National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees, the CEO is responsible for the short and long-term success of both organizations. Together, the CEO and the boards assure FFA's relevance to the agriculture industry and the agricultural education community; drive toward the accomplishment of the National FFA Organization's mission, vision, and strategic plan; and ensure accountability of the Organization and Foundation to their diverse constituencies.



The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.



  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the boards, in an accurate and timely manner, all information necessary for the boards to function properly and make informed decisions.
  • Coordinate with the Joint Governance Committee on all communications/issues that should be presented to both boards.
  • Assist the Organization and Foundation board chairs in helping the boards fulfill their respective governance functions while adhering to existing directives in each organization's policy governance structure pertaining to the chief executive.



  • Provide direction and visionary leadership focused on the health and long-term sustainability necessary to achieve the annual goals and objectives set in accordance with the philosophy, mission, vision, and strategy of FFA.
  • Set and achieve strategic results specified by the respective boards.
  • Maintains strong focus on program, product and service impact and the ability to clearly communicate the value proposition of the organization to its constituents.
  • Sustains an unwavering commitment to quality and relevant programs and data driven program evaluation.
  • Focuses on consensus and building trust with key stakeholders.
  • Communicate the Organization's/Foundation's mission to donors, volunteers, and overall community and/or stakeholders.



  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of National FFA, to include submission of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the Organization and Foundation.
  • Ensure both boards are provided with unfiltered opinions regarding the financial statements, financial outlook, and management outlook as they pertain to the financial condition of the Organization and Foundation.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and financial reports to each organization's board as required.
  • Responsible for sponsor relationship building, fundraising efforts and the development of other revenues to support the organization's mission.
  • Promotes programs and services that are produced in a cost-effective manner, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.
  • Works with both boards to ensure financing to support short and long-term organizational goals.



  • Oversee and administer an Integrated Management Team and Executive Management Committee, composed of the executive leadership of the Organization's and Foundation's staff.
  • Responsible for developing and articulating the strategic plan and vision for the Organization/Foundation and providing necessary direction and leadership to the National FFA staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring the organization's success in attracting top talent, coaching/engaging staff, managing and developing high performing teams.
  • Create and evaluate the organization's culture and environment and ensure its alignment with the mission, vision, and values. 




·   Bachelor's degree in business management/administration, agricultural education or related field is required.  Advanced degree, including a Masters (MBA, MS, MA), Ph.D., or Ed.D., is preferred.



  • Ten (10) years of progressive senior-management level experience, preferably as a chief executive officer in a related field and/or nonprofit industry.
  • Extensive experience and engagement in agricultural education and/or the National FFA.
  • Adept with diverse business functions including marketing/communications, strategic and financial management, educational programming, integrated technologies, facilities management, process improvement, and board protocols.
  • Proven track record of exceptional leadership, developing partnerships, promoting diversity, interpersonal and relationship management experience.
  • Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • Exceptional public speaking, written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal, and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, transparent, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong ability to display passion, idealism, integrity, and a positive attitude that is mission-driven and self-directed.
  • High-level strategic thinking and organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Adept in the operation of basic office equipment/skills such as utilizing the following software on a Microsoft Windows based computer: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other web browser-based technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
