POSITION SUMMARY 

The Staff Accountant performs essential accounting functions including but not limited to maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and transactions of the organization, analytical work and thorough review of financial records in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Accountant (90%)

  • Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue, and receivables
  • Work closely with the Development team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled
  • Assist with journal entries and month-end closing
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, employer benefit accruals, and miscellaneous payables and receivables
  • Manage company employee credit card accounts and disbursement
  • Maintain programs client material relief gift card amounts and requests
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly financial reports per program and department
  • Assist with audit preparation and response
  • Support Director of Accounting and CFO 
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

Governmental Reporting (10%)

  • Prepares government and non-government reporting and tax reporting (990's)
  • Create other reporting/grant reports as needed

CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE  

  • Knowledge of GAAP/FASB/FASAB
  • Knowledge of General Ledger, Month-End Closing, Year-End Processes, Financial Statement Preparation
  • Effective in working with numbers accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks 
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Knowledge of Abila Accounting software preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills in utilizing Microsoft Office software   

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Must be at last 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and valid insurance required
